Yes, A models are wooden spars, but I think the tails have been converted to all metal in the 60's.

This is a beautiful plane, if I only needed a second plane.

I've personally seen this plane at KVGT.  It's a very nice plane.  The original long time owner babied it and had it listed on barnstormers for $20,000 a few months ago.  It will do everything a C model will at a much lower price.  A lot of money is spent out on speed mods.  Here you spend less money for probably the best speed mod.  The smooth glass like wood wing.  In my opinion the wood wing is less maintenance as long as you keep it in a hangar.

The itty bitty pictures are pretty lame, but from what I can make out, the panel has been redone in the 6 pack configuration and has better than the original radios and engine instruments. If someone was willing to take on the challenge of wood Mooney ownership, this looks to be a heck of a value! Cherokee 140 prices and utility, but 140+ knots!

 

Gotta love the Mooney efficiency! :wub:
