Andy95W Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 Oh, we're back on thread. Cool. Thanks Rob. I looked in a Mooney Maint. Manual I got off www.67m20e.com and can't find page 172 or figure 64. The manual has chapters 1 thru 8. Anyone have another source for E Manuals? Not the Maintenance Manual, the Parts Manual. N601RX Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 The small hose and shutoff valve feed the vent shown in the attached picture. It is mounted behind the radio stack and provides ram air cooling to radios. Most all modern radios caution against using ram air for cooling and many have removed it and replaced with a fan with tube ran to each radio. 1 Quote

My 67 C had that, my 64 does not, and I haven't found it in the Parts manual. I always just assumed that was a change over the years. Quote
N601RX Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 If item #26 is what the original poster is talking about it the radio stack air duct. 1 Quote
Andy95W Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 I guess I always assumed all 64s were the same, and the factory only made changes in between model years. My 64 was an early one (January 64). My parts manual is also obviously different. Who knew? 1 Quote
takair Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 This may help explain it. Oddly, my aircraft, 364, originally also had the left side scoop. Quote
bus driver Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 image.jpg This may help explain it. Oddly, my aircraft, 364, originally also had the left side scoop. Rob, are they saying airframes 469 and 230, or from that number forward? Quote
takair Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 470 and up would have the left side scoop, 231 and up would have the RH valve with the cooling plenum. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 65C 3157... The ram air box didn't look much like the picture above. I am sure it did once. Age broke it into several pieces... Best regards, -a- Quote
