Jack Roush Injured in Crash at EAA!

Just woke to hear that Jack was injured in a landing accident at OSH.  I watched him prep his P-51C (A beautiful bird) for about 10 minutes on Monday.  Was NOT flying the P-51.  Keep him in your thoughts.  Definitely a FRIEND of General Aviation and an icon in the world of racing/Mustang with Four and Three wheels.

Rumor is that Roush has dinged a few planes, reported and not. You gotta know when to

hold'em and know when to fold'em. Waste of a beautiful Beechcraft jet and crashes at OSH

are no help to GA. He is using up all this amazing good luck.

The photos were just spectacular. It broke nearly in half. We spoke with two eye witnesses.  Sounds like a case of over correction of centerline drift, and a stall. Boom.

For us, we are having a blast here at Oshkosh. Had 25-30 at dinner last night. Super fun.

I am pretty sure this was the plane he has listed for sale in the "Executives" magazine. He was selling it with a cobra as well. Looks like that wont happen though. I'm glad he was okay

First let me say how relieved I am that neither Mr Roush nor his passenger sustained any serious life threating injuries.  With that said, I've always been a believer that single pilot / owner flown, high performance jets are a bad Idea.  There's a reason why professional pilots have jobs.  Flying jets either tactically in the military or from point A to B in a corporate role requires great skill and constant practice and training.  Executives with lots of other thoughts clouding thier minds should have an experienced pilot in the right seat to keep them out of trouble.  The timing of this mishap couldn't have been worse.  The crash happened right on the heals of the USA today story bashing Oshkosh and GA in general.  This is the last thing GA needs.

USA Today (owned by Gannett) pushes the airlines' agenda to push costs onto GA.  Guess they don't think we pay our fair share for the airports and ATC.  Gannett obliges the airlines as they do a lot of advertising as USA Today is the road warrior's morning newspaper in countless hotels across this country.  Frankly, there's no Chinese Wall between editorial/articles and advertising in that paper.  This is why we must all be vigilant in protecting ourselves from the predations of the airlines - they could care less if GA went away, which it will do with any additional cost burdens (e.g., look at Europe).
