mooneyman Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 I purchased N94MR in the late spring. It's a 1994 M20R. Panel had GTN 650 and EDM 900. I added the Aspens and PMA 450 PS engineering audio panel. We were able to get rid of the vacuum system and a bunch of old wiring. Substantial increase in useful load. What do you guys think? 6 Quote
Robert C. Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Beautiful:) You went with Aspen rather than the g500. What swayed you in that direction? 1 Quote
RocketAviator Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Well done! Good looking panel. 1 Quote
mooneyman Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Posted December 21, 2014 Beautiful:) You went with Aspen rather than the g500. What swayed you in that direction? It was a difficult decision. I had an Aspen PFD in my previous F model and felt comfortable with the box. The Aspens also fit better into the existing panel. 1 Quote
FBCK Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Mooneyman, I'm ordering a new audio panel tomorrow (with a new transponder and Avidyne IFD 540) and looked long and hard at the PMA450, can you give me a pirep on it. Last night I thought I would just go all Avidyne (with is just a rebranded PS8000bt). Quote
carusoam Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Let the first round of R upgrades begin... Which AOA is that? Best regards, -a- Quote

Last night I thought I would just go all Avidyne (with is just a rebranded PS8000bt). Â The PMA 450 is great! Â It's the best sounding and most intuitive audio panel I have ever experienced. The IntelliAudio feature works as advertised. Â It allows you to place different coms at different positions in the headset. It's a very cool feature! The bluetooth capability is seamless and pairs very easily with your phone. There are minimal buttons on the panel and the system is very easy to navigate. The digital recorder feature helped me with a complicated clearance at MDW the other day and is another great feature. PS Engineering have made an innovative state of the art product that is intuitive to use with features you did not know you needed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new audio panel! Quote
mooneyman Posted December 22, 2014 Author Report Posted December 22, 2014 Let the first round of R upgrades begin... Which AOA is that? Best regards, -a-  It's the Alpha Systems Legacy Kit!  Previous owner had it installed. The placement in the panel allows me to have it in my line of sight on approach to landing. It's great as another aid to situational awareness! 2 Quote

carusoam Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 Klaus, For your consideration... Mr. Hendricks is a Mooney pilot. Add him to your list of panel prospects. http://www.hendricksmfg.com/panels.html Best regards, -a- Quote
