John Pleisse Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 One of my neighbors is vacationing with family in northern Wisconsin and just came across this. River ditch. Apparently the pilot is OK. Anybody know anything?
M016576 Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Oh man- beautiful paint job... I'm surprised that Mr. Frankenmooney aka the submarine peddler hasn't gotten the scoop on that one yet... Edit: maybe that's him on that canoe...
bonal Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Hope all are OK but the pictures look old not like you would see with a modern digital camera.
N33GG Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Post accident, it was reported that the NTSB investigator told the pilot, "In fact, there never has been a runway here!". 1

Hank Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Hope it's not somebody we know! That's a recent paint job, but I can't tell if it's a long body or not. NOTE: This is in the part of Wisconsin just downstream from Columbia, SC.

John Pleisse Posted December 22, 2014 Author Report Posted December 22, 2014 http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=172401 Hey Buddy...thanks for the correction. I will change the post name from Wisconsin to South Carolina. My friend emailed me from his vacation in WI. Sorry for the error.
DAVIDWH Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Pretty much the same result, but I am a bit biased toward Sully's landing in the Hudson. Assume he also landed gear up. As they say " Any landing you can swim away from".
scottfromiowa Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Guys, this is the new secret Mooney sub version for China's Navy. With unlimited diving and stealth capability.!!!!!!. José This would be in "up periscope"! mode?! 1
bonal Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Glad it was only minor injuries. As for Sully I have listened to the recordings I'm sure we all have and they never give any credit to his first officer and I can't even recall his name but that guy was right there on top of everything he needed to do to get them that fantastic result. And I bet it was all stick and rudder and no auto land that was able to pull that off.
moodychief Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Jeff Skiles. If you go to OshKosh you might have seen him since he now works for EAA. He also writes for the EAA magazine.
kerry Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Maybe they'll give me a good deal on it if they put it up for sale.
