Hi Folks, 2 1/2 " rain yesterday, drove over the north 40 and some parts are soft otherwise good. Suggest parking as far west as possible because of higher ground. The good folks running the ground crew should direct traffic properly. All soft spots have been marked properly. Mitch's advice of a spotter is a good one. Looking forward to watching for the Caravan. See you all then

Eldon, are they parking any planes in the North 40 currently?  I listened to LiveATC.net yesterday and heard an OSH tower controller say all of the grass parking was closed and "say intentions."  The official word on the EAA site is quite ambiguous, which I'm sure is intentional so it won't discourage folks from coming.  We haven't heard anything official from the Caravan yet, but it is probably too early to make a decision about tomorrow...

I drove past OSH yesterday evening.  I saw the water, then my focus went to the flags, markings and cones.  I smiled and felt the power and excitement.  Some storms during the week.

I hope these pics help....Just come prepaired.

IT IS GOING TO BE GREAT!!!

Just checked the N40 appears to be a dozen airplanes parked, I'll try and get the real information and let everyone know.

Thank you for the updates.  We are hoping to bring some of that California sunshine to Oshkosh!  Rain or no rain, we are coming!

Hi Jeff_S.

Yep, next year will be here before you know it.  Have Mooney will travel.  Lots of fun places to fly our Mooneys without going to AirVenture.  We're going to fly the Mooney to Osh next year.  That gives me a year to save up fuel money too!  We'll keep you updated on MooneySpace as we go along.

Hello everyone, Just checked with Flightline communications for the N40 and they are allowing aircraft in and providing Marshalling services, No large airplanes like twins, they said Mooneys OK. For further clarification call 920-230-7800 ext 7790 for the latest updates, then you can decide

What will the Sunday Caravan time be?  I am flying in to Appleton with my son Saturday and my buddy has a couple of bikes (Motorcycles) that we planned on coming down and watching the Caravan come in.  If anyone knows update scheduled arrival please pass along updates.  Supposed to be clearing Saturday in late PM and Sunday/Monday should be BEAUTIFUL!!!

Here is the late night update:

Some of you (I among that group) questioned why we decided to stay with our 1:00 briefing Saturday even though the FAA told us that we would not be launching until Sunday at the earliest.

Well it appears that the people at Oshkosh are trying to find a way to still get us in on Saturday.  They are looking into ways to temporarily park us on hard surfaces until conditions are appropriate.

This is by no means a certain outcome and it will be influenced by weather conditions over night (which are forecast to be less than great).  They will be meeting first thing in the morning as will the Mooney Caravan Board at which time we hope to better know the likelihood of launching on Saturday vs. Sunday, vs...

If you are not already here (25 airplanes have checked in and we had a fun evening at Pedro's tonight getting reaquainted)and want to participate, it is important that you be at MSN before the 1:00 briefing.

Please let us know the updates. We arrive in Appleton, by commercial air on Sunday morning. Perhaps we will be able to see the mass arrival after all.

Hey Scott and everyone!

When you get settled at Oshkosh swing by the Aveo Engineering booth, they just got TSO approval for their LED position light/"strobe" wing and tail lights. "Strobe" is in quotes because the strobe function is also LED, no high voltage power supplies!

Even more importantly, I have approval from the comptroller (Gretchen) to purchase 'em!

The approved product is the PosiStrobeCP (tail light) and Ultra Galactica (yeah, I know, the product names are a bit over the top) wing position LED lights.

When we purchase and install them, we will have a couple of good used Hoskins strobes and power supplies for sale from our M20J. They are hard to find, so if anyone needs some spares.......

Also, someone associated with ANR headsets is making a major product announcement, 9:00 AM Monday at OSH. Bose or Lightspeed maybe?

And to un-hijack the thread, I am not making it to OSH this year. I am at the Farnborough Air Show right now. Not much recreational flying here.......Frown

WILCO, Norman!  As long as Boeing keeps selling planes then you can keep flying recreationally.  ;)  I'm heading to the airport now and will be off the grid for a few hours until I get to Madison, and hopefully OSH later today...

Hi everyone, More rain last night. The best is to contact the tower as to what is happening, as it appears folks on the N40 are saying some thing different. Sorry if I misled anyone. My cell # is 780-975-8598 if any one wants to get a hold of me. All the campers are either parked in shopping center lots or on the side of the road, looking south from the comm center all the aircraft are parked adjacent to the taxi way, I'll try and post some pictures area along 18/36

Norman and Gretchen:  Look at the flight log.  Altitude is steady and speed is all over the place.  Shows a good picture of the winds.

Everbody:  This thread sure shows a lot of Mooney owners looking out for each other and investing time to help us all make proper decisions!  Fly safe!

I will be at OSH Thurs-Sat.  Driving in, only 160 miles.  See you all then!  I am so excited, I think I am going to read my POH for a bed time story!

Disappointing news...the Caravan and BBQ have been scrubbed.  All grass parking/camping is closed through Saturday and unknown for Sunday at this point.  About half the Mooneys have already scattered from MSN.  We grabbed a hotel and will re-assess in the morning...hopefully fly to OSH, backup plan might be Fon du Lac since they allow camping.  We need some dry weather, sun, and wind to help speed up the process!

I just heard from two of my friends with Mooneys on the ground in OSH that parking and camping are separated by up to half a mile.  Ute and I are in Menominee (about 50 Mooney minutes away from RIPON) and we will try in the morning.  If it does not work, we are off to Fort Wayne Indiana.

Hey!!  That is what Mooneys are for!!

my Dad and I are in a hotel in topeka tonight.  We spent 6 hours today flying here from sedona az dodging thunderstorms the whole way.  We're going to fly up to madison in the morning and see what the weather is looking like in osh.  We're hoping to get into wittman but if it's still closed we'll probably go to Fond du Lac.

My friend Tom and I are staying in Chilton and driving over everyday. Since the BBQ is now a no go, is there a place people might be meeting?
