Mooney65E Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 While recently chasing an electrical issue I had my Battery, Starter, Relay and ground strap replaced only to find the problem still exsists. (Ignition switch was ultimately to blame) So I'm left with a spare starter (Sky-Tec 149-12 LS). $200 PM me if interested. See my recent entry to a thread titled "Ignition 67F" SOLD 07-06-2014 Quote
Jeev Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I would keep it and use it on a spare on long trips. I've had 2 failures in the last 500hrs and put my spare in the plane when I take mufti day or weekend trips. Any mechanic can change a starter but probably don't have one laying around. Quote
Wakeup Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 What engine will that go on? At some point I would like to put a light weight starter on my 1961 M20B. Thanks. Troy Quote
philipneeper Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Whats the difference between the 149 NL and the 149-12 LS ? Im interested if it fits our Mooneys. Quote
Mooney65E Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 Aircraft Spruce has an applicability chart for Sky-Tec starters here... Looks as though all M20 B through J models from 1958 on use the 149 tooth flywheel. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/stpages/mooneyM20standardreplacementparts.php Quote
philipneeper Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 My starter works just fine, kinda wanna replace it but I don't know if I really need to. Quote
