rahill Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Our airplane is stuck on the ground in Livermore with an impressive fuel leak from the pressure gauge. Looking for recommendations on maintenance options on the field to fix that. Basically, smelled like an aerosol can went off in the plane. Didn't take too long to notice lots of drips, sometimes more like a stream, of fuel coming from the right side panel (fuel pressure gauge or fuel line to the gauge). Carpet was soaking a lot of fuel up and we spent what little time it took to get back to Livermore (just finished a practice approach) hoping that there were no sparks around. Rich Hill N201CD
helitim Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Will you be out there tomorrow? Maybe my A&P and I can take a look at it for you. There is also Tri-Valley aviation on the field if you prefer. Tim 205 568 0298 cell
Marauder Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Rich -- glad to hear there was nothing to spark it. I often wondered if anyone ever had a leak with the fuel or oil pressure systems. Now I know... Hopefully it is the line and not internal to the gauge. Maybe it is just a loose line too. Keep us posted. Sent using Tapatalk
mooniac15u Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 I often wondered if anyone ever had a leak with the fuel or oil pressure systems. I had a leak in the fuel pressure line in my M20D a few years back. During some avionics work they bent the line out of the way and it caused a kink which lead to a crack. My CFII felt it dripping on her leg and I was able to get it fixed before it became a serious problem.

I'll give Tri-Valley a call today, hopefully they can handle this without us making too many commutes to Livermore.
