Gmooney Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 I have a 1970 M20C. The panel lighting control does not work properly. The lights do come on but stay real low. Intermittently the lights will come on high but will not stay. I have replaced the fuses and inspected the control unit. I think the rheostat control is bad but cannot find a replacement or a model number. A couple people have recommend the Max pulse units but I am not sure if that unit will match ohms and resistance. The rheostat control seems integrated into the lighting control panel. I have considered replacing the whole lighting system but the existing system provide back lighting to various places on the panel and instruments and not sure what would work. Quote
Mooneymite Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 I have no suggestions other than suspecting corrosion, but if you're rheostat is like mine, those ity-bity fuses are pretty expensive! I wonder why a more "standard fuse" was not used. Quote
M20F-1968 Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 I have the original rheostat controls from a 1967 F model. I am sure they are the same as yours. If you are interested, please call me at (617) 877-0025 or e-mail me at johnabreda@yahoo.com Thanks, John Breda Quote
meddesign Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 70E I had to replace the reostat, but could not get the one with the on off switch built in, Ended up adding a milspec toggle switch for on off. I also rebuilt the lighting board, I changed the fuses to a different type. I was told by Bill Wheat the diagram in the manual was the latest revision. Quote
mike_elliott Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 You might consider pulling the whole module and sending it to Don Maxwell, he has a guy that can fix these things.. Quote
Gmooney Posted November 7, 2013 Author Report Posted November 7, 2013 It has an allen bradley type JS 2A 125V 10A 10V reheostat Can't tell how many OHMS with a resistor cross connected. I might give the guy at Don Maxwell a call on this but found on ebay some units that might work. Quote
