aaronk25 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Anyone have any issues with the seats supports at the hinge bending outward or the roller cams that adjust pitch of the seat back getting bent out causing the seat back adjustment to slip off the track causing it to go backwards? Also the better half wants a nicer seat specifically with taller back support and adjustable head and arm rest. Anyone ever swapped these seats for something that more closely resembles a lazy boy??? manu damaschin Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 I am also having this problem with the seat...I will try to resolve it at my annual this month and I will let you know...! Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Same problem with mine... one of the reason I bought a salvage plane so I can swap in the later model seats that are built a bit better. They are hard to find, though! Quote
mike_elliott Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 At one time, Paul Lowen was working on a fix for this. I don't know where he is with it or if he ever completed it. Quote
Scott Aviation Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 yup my 77J same problem with the heavy gauge aluminum brackets flexing out and not seating back on the roller slots. PAIN IN THE ASS!!! I just pulled my passenger seat out last week and used a crescent wrench to adjust it a few tweaks back in place. It works good now, but I find the passenger seat gets way more abuse. It only takes 5 minutes to pull the seats out so I have just decided that its a fact of life to readjust this once and a while. I would be interested in a "fix" Quote
aaronk25 Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 Would be nice if I could purchase an aftermarket seat, if they are even made, but I'm guessing that that would require a STC. There isn't any reason a seat with a taller back that has infinite up and down adjustments as well as the infinite lumbar adjustments and arm rests shouldn't be available. I mean it is 2013! I'm fine taking longer in my 201 vs a acclaim to get somewhere but the comfort level needs to come up a bit. Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 You can buy new modern seats from Mooney with a big lead time and an even bigger cost. Quote
dcastor Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 I'll probably get flamed for this, but If you wanted comfort, maybe should have gotten a Bonanza! Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I find my Mooney more comfy than a Bo I flew years ago... Quote
AlanA Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I've noticed that many passengers are not comfortable not being able to see over the panel like they are use to in their cars. I bought a little seat cushion they can sit on to help them see better. They seem to really enjoy the flight better this way. Maybe there is also something for back of seat so they don't lay back as far. Quote
