  1. I've noticed my RPM starting to wander in cruise. After getting a digital tach I noticed a need to "fine tune" every fifteen minutes or so. 2500 might go to 2470 or 2510. Today's flight produced variations from 2430 to 2540 when set at 2500. Is this a function of an old gov. and a new tach or is it a sign the gov. is beginning to fail? Thanks in advance, joe PS- M20F, IO360A1A, 500 hours on a no AD prop.
  2. Welcome! Beautiful AC. I'm VA based, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
  3. Mine does the same. Yellow at idle and RPM goes to 2730 on first flight of the day but then usually normal after that.
  4. My 70 F- 156 ROP , 8-10k but I fly it LOP 145-148, 8.5-9.0. GPH at the same 8-10K
  5. I could live with that for now. I'll call my installer tomorrow and get some input.
  6. Will the GTN650 display without a heading source? I've been told yes and no. I'm interested but I do not have an HSI. joe
  7. CGR30P so I could cull the old gauges. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/36292-220-knot-cruise33/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35637-img-0002/
  8. +1 , for Mini with Ipad back up.
  9. I fly the 8000bt and like it. However, I'd buy the 450 if I had the chance. One of the challenges I face single pilot IFR is picking up the atis when the freq is busy. Lately I started using the monitor feature and it works great but I hear the 450 performs above expectations when listening to two freqs at one time. That being said, if my wife bought me the 8000bt I'd probably keep it regardless of what she said.
  10. From the album: Inflght

My friend snapped this shot as I was getting my clearance. They were doing touch and goes all afternoon.
  11. This may not be the perfect solution but it's a start. I think it is fantastic they have included IFR! Down the road things can always be modified.
  12. I've never had this issue with my Mooney but I had the same thing happen with my C170. Smooth as silk to stuck! We disassembled the valve, cleaned, smoothed if up and applied "EZ turn". Very sticky stuff. On tube should last at least a dozen lifetimes. Spruce sells it. I have not been in my Mooney valve but I assume they are very similar.
  13. With regards to Ram Air I initially didn't think it did much on my bird. However, after I got digital fuel flow I could see a significant difference. What was barely noticeable on the MP showed up as .5 gph on the ff without touching the big red knob.
  14. +1 for plain position reports. 5 mile 2.5 mile........
  15. I don't call them for weather in flight but I check the pireps before most flights. Every flight that has some nasty weather before and while in route. I'm sure some of these pireps come through these friendly folks.
  16. I did the 650 and use a hardwired 796 as a poor man's MFD. Without a secondary screen-796,696, even maybe an ipad I could see an argument for the 750. Not alot of real-estate on the 650. Of course the flight stream 210 will level the playing with regard to flight plan entry. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35880-/ http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35879-center-panel/
  17. Wow, I fly around 60s all the time and I've never even felt a burble. I'll be reading up.
  18. I'm thinking I should give my cable some extra inspection time. Nice that this happened on the ground.
  19. Concorde with the XC! With my skytech I can almost taxi it cranks so good! I also like the XC for IFR work.
