  1. Quick question- IO360 pushrod tube retaining spring. One or Two per shroud. I've seen both and someone suggested there was a SB from Lycoming but I can't find it. thanks
  2. +1 for repair. The vent ports the fuel away from the energized half the assembly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  4. On this topic, why is the system placarded against retracting the gear?
  5. +1 for the Concorde and S5. Leave it on all the time and starting year four of service. We will see.
  6. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to disconnect the starter and troubleshoot the switch. Sometimes she cranks on the third blade. Otherwise she cranks and cranks until I let off the switch and then she fires up. Intermittent. I suspect the switch may need a little cleaning. thanks again, joe
  7. Thanks Vance. I appreciate the reply. It seems like it would be nice to hear a confirmation the sos was working. However, it's nice to know my bird is probably the way Mooney made her.
  8. Thanks for the reply. My sos comes on with starter engagement. I disconnected the starter just to check. Sure enough...buzzzzzz when I push the key in for start. I'm thinking my ignition switch is wired improperly.
  9. Need some advice regarding my SOS. My 70 F model's is equipped with the standard twist against the spring and push to start switch. What I think is different is my SOS does not come on until I push and engage the starter. Isn't is suppose to come on when I turn the key all the way to the right? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Dark nights--false horizons-- all add up to an appreciation for IFR proficiency.
  11. I don't have any challenges reading it but as you can see mine is in a high profile spot. I highly recommend placing it within easy reach. It has multiple screens and I find myself fiddling. That being said, with the annunciator lights you can set it and forget it. If something gets out of spec the lights get your attention. Along that thread, put some thought into the limits when you fill out the sheet. The caution and master warning lights work off the data you give EI. For example, my POH has no yellow or green for voltage or amps. Therefore there is no warning if they get out of line. In hindsight I would done it differently. I'd like a big red flashing light if my ammeter is discharging in flight!
  12. George, I installed one in my 67F and have no regrets. Having previously been a JPI guy this was new territory for me as well. My installation would have allowed me to replace all the primaries except the fuel pressure. Initially I planned to use a separate fp but ended up keeping my stock tach and mp/fp for redundancy. The installation is clean, tidy and works as advertised. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35878-left-panel/
  13. I have the Brittain with a GTN 650 and standard 106A and it works great! I can intercept a track on the 650 utilizing the heading bug. Works great!

  15. nice! I like the n-number as well. Mine's 6799V
  16. I may, I've been considering the 40:1 gear set and the kit comes with a new one. I'll be making a few calls in the morning to check availability. Thanks for the reply. You wouldn't happen to have the main gear "bumpers"? I went over all my gear rigging this weekend and the MS Manual calls for a distance from the bumper. I have no such bumper and my gear just kinda floats when in the raised position. Thanks again. joe
  17. Here's how it's been explained to me: If you filed correctly-/A, and your under radar coverage, upon being given a direct clearance the reply should be, Mooney XXXX, direct somewhere, via 245 degrees. It's clear and recorded as a heading not GPS. As I understand it, the caveat is you have to have radar services.
  18. Looking for some advice. I serviced my landing gear actuator(dukes 20:1) per the SB (with my A&P) and have a concern regarding the amount of play in the rubber drive coupling between the Dukes electric motor and the worm gear shaft. Can anyone offer up what's normal? Mine will move back and forth a considerable amount. I've consulted my service manual with no luck.
  19. I fly a Hartzell and the adjustment is at the prop. Try checking your prop owners manual and it should describe the procedure.

  21. Belly Wash for underneath and wash-n-wax (blue) after every flight to get the bugs off.
  22. Much like everyone else if don't like.....high data fees, proprietary stuff, few choices. That being said, for the third time I've bit the bullet, broke the news to my youngest that there will be no college, and installed Garmin's gear during my panel upgrade. GTN 650 with GDL88. I've had a great experience with Garmin's dispatch rate and when I need it, it always works. Garmin hardware adds the utility to my old F that I need to confidently use it for business. It's my opinion the GA numbers are to small to garner any real leverage on the market. No research, no expertise...just my gut. Also, my installer stuck a GDL88 in for a "trial". I was reluctant. Don't need it, never had it, always file IFR..... After 50 hours including NYC and DFW he will never get it back. I love it!
  23. Sorry for the double pic. Loose nut on the controls
