  2. It's not worth changing your annual sked for a vacuum pump swap. Keep your sked. Bill

  6. American is flying him and 50 others in a 777 according to the local paper. They must have been low bidder.
  7. I love that place... Went for a ride one year... And flew in there back in the 70s. Met Cole Palen back then too. Bill
  8. GOOF OFF is available at HD and Lowes (I saw gallons recently at HD)and is relatively safe (read the label). I used it to clean the weatherstrip cement off the door when replacing the rubber. BILL
  9. You fellow bikers should consider the Carolinas Cycling Time Trial at Lowes Motorspeedway in Charlotte, 6 times (once/month) over the summer. May - September. www.carolinatt.org. Just YOU and the TRACK. I used to run the timing system, now we outsourced that out. I volunteer at each event and could pick you up from KJQF (about 2 mi away). 10 mile timed TT on a 1.5 mile D shaped track... 15 ft climb from turn 4 to turn 2. Bobby Labonte never knew about the "climb" until he road it on his bike ! A lot of fun.. My personal record is c22mph avg a number of years ago. BILL
  10. This one would be more appropriate
  11. i wonder if clearcoat would reduce the upkeep on it? Bill
  12. i had one go bad in my Sundowner. Took it out and removed the lever (cotter pin). The plunger in the switch was stuck. Pulled out the plunger and a lot of fine dust/dirt came out with it. Flushed it out with mineral spirits, put it back together and it worked just fine. Had my A&P re-install. Still worked 3 years later. It might be same problem as yours. Bill
  13. I use 3 100W bulbs, two on pigtails and one in a ceramic ceiling fixture.. wired with zipcord to a single A/C plug into a timer. 2 pigtails go under the pan thru the oil check hole and the ceramic fixture goes under the radios (on hump between pilot and copilot). I set timer to come on at midnite and off at 10 am. Set it up the day before and If I elect not to go the lights go off at 10. Cover the cowl with a pair of blankets. Works great for me here in NC. Bill
  14. When I left KSSI last October after the AOPA fly-in. I filed IFR and had to wait for a traffic opening. i pulled over to the side of the taxiway to let VFR departures out, then when I got my takeoff clearance, I just went.. Poor operating to hold everyone else up while you have to wait. On a towered field they will not let you taxi !! BILL
  15. looks really nice, and seems to work well under Firefox Bill
  16. somewhat related... I just refurbished a Baja go-Cart for a neighbor. The battery was absloutely dry when I got it so I filled it with fresh rain water and put it on trickle charge (3a max) for 14 days. it came back and starts the cart like a new battery... I would have never expected it to work but wonders do happen. Bill
  17. The flight school at Wilgrove uses Triad and is very happy. I have no experience. BILL
  18. I swear by the Clorox gallon range extender.. Re-use your empty clorox bottle.. I have several 1/2 gallon in the plane. They seal well and when used, just toss in the FBO trash. Leave a bit of Clorox in the bottle to keep scent fresh. Bill
  19. I use an adjustable filter from Amazon with my Go-Pro to eliminate the prop. Works great. BILL
  20. Slight change in plans.. Have Free USAIR ticket to/from Talahassee and I'll be flying with wife and her friend as she does not want to fly or drive alone. have car reserved for the gals. BILL
