  1. wow!!what a eyefull reading this entire thread.accusations/threat of lawsuit/expert testimony..this ad had it all!!!next time i wont forget the popcorn.Thing is ..if you had a similar model mooney you just pranged...12.5k or 25k would be looking real good right now.IE how much for a complete tail section if the factory could build you one???Even if one of the wings was crap how about the flaps and ailerons??I am guessing 12.5k right there...
  2. hey mooneypilot..just curious why you exchanged out the old 430w(must have been upgraded 430)for the new one...were you having reliabilty issues??
  3. cool..we use a couple of dahon mu 20 in folding bikes..both fit side by side in the extended long body baggage area and only weigh about 20 lbs ea.The dahons use very high quality frame and shifter parts by avid and very quick to assemble.
  4. this could work..I keep a jeep in my hanger that could be rented out to trustworthy people..k
  5. This is only part of a minuture world in a giant warehouse in Berlin I believe. It takes up almost 100000 square feet...towns,cities,farm land with all the animation going on..incredible
  6. Hi Philip...a more important issue is how the read at near empty and near full...ie what do they read at 5 gal ??
  7. hey its about time..I miss the resturant at the terminal k
  8. I think you are attempting to renegotiate your deal with seller.I can see while actual squawks on prebuy can effect the deal..trying to turn the clock back buy restoring potential problem areas to new condition is a new one!! I know if i was seller i would balk...the issue I would raise with my partners is do we want an aircraft with corrosion history at all.I always tried to find one from the western states, avoid coastal and humid climates etc....corrosion effects everything not just steel tubing from a leak which is a good indication a/c was stored outside and not in a hanger.Good luck with whatever you decide..k
  9. looks like good hot spark...
  10. the alumunum trough idea cannot be used on a Bravo..there simply is no room...so heres what i do..run the engine up and get it hot..crack open the quick drain and take a sharp scribe or phillips screwdriver..punch an air hole at the top end of the filter.Go have coffee or bs with the hanger bums. After an hour most of the oil will have drained back into engine...now take a heavy duty ziplock baggie and pull it arround the oil filter..use 1in opwn end to spin off while surrounded by baggie..about 2 oz will be in bag...remove oilfilter with baggie and cleanup is minimal..kpc
  11. Also glad nobody hurt more. Now since nobody commented on this,I will state how important it is to fly the approach or fly the missed...at 1mile and especially 1/4 mile right of center line...his needle indications would have shown a full scale deflection ...calling for an immediate missed approach. His glidescope also would have called for a climb as at 1 mile it would also have shown a full scale deflection. The weather during this was not that bad...no wind or turbulence just some localized low fog.It appears he was enticed to take a look but was never established onto the ils approach corridor. He was legal in that even though tower called rvr/vis below ils minimums..since he was part 91..he could legally fly the approach..the problem it appears was a last minute attempt at this approach with out a full briefing. Also the questionable attempt doing so from the right seat which would have affected his scan...in the end..dumb luck saved him and his passengers..kpc.
  12. Your Right..now that you have posted pics...thats no remote compass sensor....did the a/c have an angle of attack instrument at one time???I think safe flight made one...this one looks like stall vane is broken off or missing...kpc
  13. ok so what was final verdict???
  14. Hi Bennett...as I understand your question, you are asking for engine settings in the case of a magneto failure. So the thing is,after all the drama of the typical mag failure...misfire/crossfire/sudden silence when switching between l/r mag etc...the engine will be running on the second mag but not at the same lean mixture...so I would get down to lower altitude and richen up....I have never seen specific single mag performance #s in the POH...its really a guess...the engine just has to prove it can run on a single mag during cert...not make the same rated power...the mag failure I had in a Baron...the effected engine made noticable reduced power..but I had another good engine so i proceeded to home airport...in a single..I would be landing soonest...k
  15. Good Idea...
  16. Good softfield technique would have helped....that elevator should have been deflected more at beginning of roll..
  17. ah the ol coastal fog again...how was the diving at cannery row?..kpc
  18. You didnt really paint your BEAMER did you???
  19. Antaries..get the oem rings or the stainless ones with jacking cones from lasar...both are not that expensive...and I would suggest you ignore that "other Mooney owners "advice if he offers any other helpful tips on cheap aircraft parts...ie dont let him show you how he saves money on magneto breaker points by shopping at his local Briggs and Stratton small engine shop!!..KPC
  20. I have been to all three..my vote is henderson...especially IFR ,far less time wait for ifr release..kpc
  21. close...magnetic flux gate sensor...do you have a hsi/rmi or other remote sensing compass?''kpc
  22. Oscar..I would love to fly down to central america/Guatemala...I had a trip scheduled in 1988 or so and was advised by the US state dept how dangerous it was at the time...I donot recall what the exact issue was..I think it was some nurses that disappeared on the road at the time...anyway Tikal is on my bucket list..have you flown in there??sinc kpc
  23. Could be even simpler...the multiplug connector directly behind and into panel/glareshield reostats in my aircraft unlugs very easily....check to make sure its pluged in all the way..its a little hard to get two...we used a little rtv to secure this plug and no probs for last couple years..kpc
  24. Well Parker...a prebuy may well reveal 30k of squawks...asking the owner to swallow that is a bit much...and holding the seller to the cost of prepurchase if no agreement is reached is unusual ..as I recall in most plane deals the buyer assumes the cost of the prebuy....than what exactly counts as an airworthyness issue is negotiated...in this 30k deal..we have cracked gear pucks...yeah they should be replaced but asking the owner to pickup the 2grand cost for all 3 gear legs combined with a 5k msc style inspection would have me thinking it is better and less hassle to donate the aircraft and take the tax benefit spreadout 4/5years if necessary. The thing is ..the buyer thinks he is buying a 30k plane...does he know he will be maintaining a 200k plane...my 2cents..kpc
  25. better shut down the whole web site now..these links they are posting are loaded with trojans and viruses...I am so sorry, btu it appears they have won for now..kpc
