  1. so how much to fix the machine???KPC
  2. My mask definitely uses more o2 than cannula....I had a chance to compare o2 use on a flight to Montana...at 17k I was having trouble hitting 90% even with the 02 turned up to the top of the cannula scale on the left side of oxymizer ball guage.(probably due to allergies that day)Switched to the mask and set it for 17k on the right side of scale and started mouth breathing...o2 use shotup to about 200 ibs per hour vs about 100 with the mask.O2 saturation peaked at 97% though...only down side was hoarse throat from all the dry O2 mouth breathing...kpc
  3. NO...you nevermind
  4. Damn...Mexican Eapis...well that will really screw the pooch...I mean this is a country where half of the strips i fly into have no internet service or search and rescue...so combine that with airports spread out over some really long distances ,maybe a army garrison of 5 or 6 soldiers living under miserable conditions and the potential of official "mordida"and if Eapis becomes law of land ,confiscation of us aircraft becomes the norm for even minor infractions...kpc
  5. on second thought..get a second opinion...is it really just a scratch or a measurable cut or groove,,,the service manual states the limites...goodluck''kpc
  6. Believe it or not those chrome moly engine mount tubes are so thin...a couple hundreths will condem an engine mount. In this case ,the stainless heat shield shield vibrated and cut a groove in the engine mount...this can be a costly repair...usually caused by plastic zipties arround engine mount tubes,,...ugh kpc
  7. Dallas to sacramento was my first flight in n1050q...we got off late in the afternoon so had two stops on the way..about 10 hrs as I recall..congrats,,kpc
  8. My Bravos braking ,though shows no softness ,spongyness or excessive pedal travel are from the start of my ownership are frankly not the greatest...i have assumed as gross weight increased these brakes are at there maximum compared to a 4 puck cleveland found on a Baron for example...those you could really lockup...not on my Bravo...k
  9. In this video I couldnt tell at what point you were in IMC...nice landing though..kpc
  10. I didnt realize navcanada was charting rnav approaches..I havent seen very many in BC ..certainly not like we are seeing in the us...maybe some of our canadian members can way in on this..kpc
  11. Hey nice photo...and I dont think a low approach constitutes a "buzz job"especially over a 6000 ft runway. It looks like bank angle is maybe 30 degrees ,so I wouldnt be too hard on your "mechanic" especially if he was making the proper traffic calls during his low approach...this is basically typical flyin /airshow stuff.Last year at the Porterville airshow /flyin they had a guy with a radar gun measuring speeds of a couple hopped up rvs,a mooney bravo etc.Looked just like that and nobody even quivered.PS the mooney Bravo took the prize..180kts or so....good luck with the new bird...if you are like me,when the kids grow up and are on their own you will be happy to be back with the lower cost to maintain Mooney..kpc
  12. speaking of parachutes...with 250 jumps to my name ,I can not think of a worse airplane to jump out of....LOL k
  13. I have had the opposite experience re mask vs oxymizer cannula....02 use is about twice with the mask ....oxygenation at all altitudes is better with the mask...I am using blue silacone scott mask with mic..it is fairly comfortable with oxygenation levels averaging 95% up to 23k I have flown...kpc
  14. i have not had any problems...check metal tag on hose(aeroquip)for cure date and fitting type...i seem to recall dissimilar fittings can do this...some have different angles on the sealing surface so they donot torque correctly...contact sacramento skyranch for advice..kpc
  15. I think a 300 lb drop is too high. There are temp/filling pres tables that the line guys use to compensate for a "hot" fill.Say tank is normally rated for 1850 lbs at 15 celsius...so at 30 celsius a full tank would be 1975 or so....I am more suspicious of the bowdon cable actuating the turn off lever on the regulator...if that is slightly out of rig and you exercised the on/off 2 0r 3 times and press than held at 1250..it means you finally got the lever to the closed position...I doubt your temps are varying that much...I donot notice that great a pressure change from say 90 on the ground and minus 37 at altitude...k
  16. I have a 2 blade Mt on my Husky...very smooth and light weight..kpc
  17. Hey Luc...good luck with the Bonanza....please note depending on model year ,they can have CG loading issues...also the price you pay for that wonderful ground handling(I presume you mean landing manners)is leaking oleo struts, but the flaps are very effective. If you get a v-tail you will experience a totally non Mooney feeling...the Bonanza Tail waggle, especially in turbulence. You will not see this in the A36 .Regarding your IFR ticket....I read this as a real cautionary tale...a situation I hope the USA doesnt find itself in someday. When I think of European airregs,i think of runaway overregulation that essentially killed off private avation (other than clubs)for the "common" man.Even getting your IFR ticket in the US is not going to help accoeding to EASA from what I have heard. So if an IFR ticket is so difficult to get in Europe..most will fly VFR..are there a lot of VFR into IFR accidents???anyway..nice bird you restored and best of luck with the next one..sinc kpc
  18. I would like to know (other than longterm lease for hundreds of amu) where one could rent a turboprop by the hour???sinc kpc
  19. good advice here...unfortunately I have to advise that if his numbers are hard...I really cant advise any plane ownership over simply renting....his numbers wont add even for simplest fixed gear ....sorry to be such a downer on your dream,,kpc
  20. Broken valve spring..uhoh.....better have a mechanic do a valve wobble test on that cylinder...also get him to boroscope the "burn pattern "on that cylinder...how was the spring replaced???Did they pull the jug or do the rope trick...good luck..kpc
  21. the mouse milk is probably doing the most good,...the way I have found to apply it is pour a little into an oil bottle cap(you get lots of these from the oil change)than use a long handled artist brush and "paint the joint"starting from the top so it wicks around joint.I have found far less mess than using oil can with hose...k
  22. uh..contact cleaner..sorry thats not the way smt tactile switches work Jose....but if the 430w is out of warrenty..I would get an electronics guy to replace the switch...prob not legal but the part would cost pennies!!and that proc button is critical for setting up waas approaches /sid/star or activating a/p guidance...I use it constantly...good luck..kpc
  23. mine use to leak also...adjust cable after removing seat or pull just enough cabin heat to make it comforatable..k
  24. My #2 was also cracked at prebuy....welded by knisely welding and no futher problems 350 hrs later.I also change my oil but for the reverse reason John Green suggusts...you have your mechanic change the oil...and they know they can probably charge out for 200 or 300 bucks...but they are human and get busy...they will give the engine a once over...BUT..the Bravo really needs a detailed inspection ( I requently take an hour alone on exaust and hose inspection...I do the air filter at that time...it is so easy to remove and than you have direct access to turbo charger impeller and can spin the turbine for signs of roughness.I also give all exaust slip joints a shot of mouse milk and lube the wastegate pivot point with same...probably does no good...but I have had very little problems with exaust system with no changes in condition...an oil change takes me 4 hrs...from runup to runup..k
  25. My tank is coming up for replacement..who was your pma source??I have a 105 cu ft kevlar tank..kpc
