  1. as for the autopilot not being certified for the mooney's I guess i am a bit of an optomist and really hope for it to happen. I understand the history but I don't want to be a Downer Dan and assume the worst since being an optomist wont cost me anything since I am not being asked to front any money. By the way Downer Dan is a pilot we used to work with that, due to his demeanor, made for a looooong week and was not aimed at anybody here
  2. I think that the replacement is for the 230 Cruz. This the most basic autopilot w/o approach capability
  3. well he said this year but lets see how the certification goes. I wouldn't be betting big dollars on it but will be excited if it happens since it will be an option at least
  4. I contacted Bendixking this week and inquired about any motion on the certification on the autopilot for the shortbody mooneys specifically mine 1965 m20 E. Shane phillips responded and said the certification should be complete in Q3 or Q4 for anybody inteested in a basic autopilot
  5. Oh the horror, a Mooney not being fast or going backwards, that would blasphemy ;-)
  6. on the other hand you could do an ultimate short field / hover landing and have lots of bragging rights
  7. A friend of mine has Magneto E R .he was a pilot injured in an aircraft accident about 50 yrs ago and is EXTREMELY serious about the mags being right when they are done. It is a 1 man shop here in Arkansas. I highly recommend him
  8. Am looking at buying a 355. Which comm spacing did you get? And why?
  9. I remember when replicas of the Messerschmitts were built .is this a replica or a reengined original and after the crash of the Collings foundation B17 are they still doing this? I was in Worchester recently and most of their planes had been removed and all had been grounded.Does anybody know where all of the replicas are now ?I believe they were being built by a man named Herb Tischler until some problem (business problem or maybe a death) happened. I believe this was in the early 90'S
  10. Yeah there was an attempt to get rid of the Bill and Hillary national airport name but Bill had enough friends left in Arkansas to get it stopped. I asked ground one time if they were gonna use the Clinton name but the discussion quickly became how long it would take to be called Hillbilly airport
  11. Years ago I ran into the test pilots flying the Adam aircraft. They were inside trying to warm up since a heater had not been installed.I wanted to stop and visit with them for a few minutes but life intervened and my pax showed up and I had to head out without speaking to them
  12. I have a friend that was trying to depart Gastons (3M0) in a navion .during takeoff roll a flock of geese suddenly decided to cross the runway. Numerous dead and injured geese and several thousand dollars of parts later he finally got out of there. He told me that the people that were vacationing there (not the owners of the resort) were mad for him injuring the geese and not friendly at all to the chance of him being injured or the damage to his plane. The gist of the attitudes were they wanted to see geese and not planes
  13. Ya know sometimes you just have to say to hell with it and open the bottle and throw away the cap.no every day mind you but sometimes you just have to decompress and I think we have all been in an emotional vise for the last year and need some mental down time.
  14. what about this? Build it yourself and a turntable to prevent oversteer damage
  15. I think if it were me I would make sure the rigging is correct and nothing is hanging out. Unfortunately I have no knowledge about the gear covers. Slick and smooth don’t hurt anything and I would start there
  16. In regards to lowering the nose on the Citation X my buddy the ACP didn’t remember the details of how they got the nose down but if he finds out I will msg you the info
  17. If Rwsavory can’t do it then I might be able to help
  18. somebody must have tied the tail too tight :-)! Actually I work for these guys and that plane caused a change in fueling policies to keep that from happening again
  19. My eye doc adjusted where the bifocal started to align with the top of the instrument panel (he is a pilot also) and set the range to the tip of my fingers for distance to the instrument panel. This works well for me
  20. I used to fly a Cheyenne ll as well. The Cheyenne flies like a Piper and the Aerostar flies like a sports car.The Cheyenne ll has plenty of power but the SAS vane can be problematic if it isn’t working properly. It was installed due to nonlinear stick forces on pitch up due to the high power to weight ratio so it could cause unrecoverable stalls. TheCheyenne l with a lower power engine does not have this problem. I would still prefer (all systems operating properly) to fly the Aerostar. Just my $0.02
  21. I am just wondering how much flaps the moose uses for takeoff
  22. I used to fly a super 700 Aerostar. It was the 602 p upgraded to the super 700. It was the demo plane for the pressurization upgrade. I loved the plane ,it flew with 2 fingers and was very sensitive to ice like any there laminar flow wing.the plane had many upgrades such as 350 hp engines, extra fuel tank and new square tipped props. It feels strange in roll since you roll around the center of the fuselage since it is a mid wing aircraft and I wouldn’t like to take it out of less than a 4000 ft strip. The Aerostar is also a plane that really requires specialized training to be safe. Hope that answered a few questions but feel free to ask me more
  23. sorry I was trying rather unsuccessfully to be funny .
  24. What’s legal and what the government knows can be very different things :-)
