  6. i am am planning on getting my 65 E model painted and I am wondering what a quality paint job ballpark price would be and what kind of process i should be looking for. I don't want to go on uninformed so I am wanting to learn from everybodies experiences here so I don't do something stupid that I will regret later. Any suggestions or comments?
  7. Here is the photo of my step install. Went well and works as advertised
  8. I will try to get pictures of the install tomorrow.an error I posted yesterday was the bracket that my mechanic fabricated was down at where the cable attaches at the other end not the step end
  9. The mod my mechanic had to make was only a small bracket where the cable attaches to the step.My plane was nothing like the picture so it might have been modified by a mechanic in the past somewhere.Making the bracket took only about 5 min so overall a nonevent.Would recommend it to anybody with this problem
  10. The install is finished and only one minor change had to be made and that was to the attach point to the step for the cable.Overall mechanic was pleased with the mod and a local maintenance shop came down to look at it in case he ran into that problem so I gave him the info to get one in case he runs across this issue.

  15. Ordered fri morning and kit is scheduled to arrive mon Will give a report as soon as it is installed. The plane is apart for annual so should be a clean install

  17. Am in the process of annualing my M20e and need a rubber bellows for the retractable step. Does anybody know where to find this creature ? My mechanic has tried Britton with no luck. Any help would be appreciated
  18. Well the logbooks for the engine were not lost so I could recreate the airframe times from the engine logs. my prop is being overhauled so will have fresh logbooks my mechanic has already completed the ad inspections along with the inspection part of the annual the former owner may still find the logbooks and already promised to give them to me when /if he finds them. The plane will be used for personal travel and will be flown vfr only for the first year. I plan on stripping he plane myself and when that is complete I have an acquaintance that will paint the plane for a reasonable price. With the plane already having brand new glass and interior it when I bought it the new paint should finish out the cosmetics. With the years flying it vfr under my belt I will look at avionics upgrades to meet my needs. Thanks for asking questions and bringing up considerations
  19. Thanks for all the greetings. Am based in m74 bald knob,Arkansas will post pics when I get it out of annual and plan on flying a bit as skydivrboy suggested I know it needs paint desperately and after a season of flying I am gonna start looking at upgrades to my magic carpet
  20. i everybody' I am the proud owner of a 1965 m20E and i just wanted to introduce myself.I purchased this plane up when the previous owner (a friend of mine) decided he needed to sell the plane since he had gotten sick and hadn't flown in 4 years.Fortunately he was an A&P and had secured the plane for its long sleep but he did lose the airframe and prop logbooks. I bought it and am in the process of getting it getting it annualed so im sure i will be here asking questions to learn more about mooneys in general. the plane has a brand new interioron a major and 3000TT, paint is going to be donewahen i get it stripped so bring on any thought or ideas. Right now am thinking if a white top with a carribean blue/green bottom
