  1. i have removed the canon plug at both the sensor and the gauge cluster ,sprayed both with contact cleaner and still does it
  2. am starting to have an intermittent problem with my oil temp. On occasion it will show a dead gauge then suddenly register normal and occasionally it will bounce from 0 to normal. I am thinking it is the sending unit. My engine is the io -360A1A with the the original sending unit with the canon plug on it. Any suggestions on testing the sending unit before I call the mechanic in? And any idea of the number for the sender? when I looked at aircraft spruce I couldn't find anything so I have come again to the wellspring of knowledge of all things Mooney before I start taking cowlings off and pestering the mechanic
  3. thanks i am watching to see the info on the sock thanks again
  4. I need to make a sock for the Johnson bar on my E and mine is completely gone so I don’t even have a pattern. Does anybody have the dimensions for the gear sock? Thanks in advance for any help
  5. On the range of an ev you have to consider peripherals on cars. If you live in a cold climate the cold will really reduce the battery capability and if you want to warm the car it hurts it even further. In a hot climate you will probably want A/c and again another drain on your battery. People always talk about battery range but they never talk about the peripherals that really lower the battery range and just use ideal condition numbers. Imagine sitting in a 2 hr traffic jam on a hot day and wanting A/c but afraid you will run out of electrons to get home
  6. No, you are not. I just had a friend killed due to trim not set after landing into the proper position. His fault i know but the trim issue still tells us we wont be able to overcome the trim in that setting. Why not go out and climb to altitude ,slow the plane down and trim it up like that then try a approach stall and a go around? this would tell you if you have the strength to overcome it in a real event close to the ground. The company I work for almost had an accident because a pilot that came to us from another company normally landed with trim. that person had an issue and the only thing that kept the plane from being a smoking hole in the ground was the captain was an aerobatic pilot and it was a clear day
  7. Welcome. There is much valuable information and people willing to share it with you so don’t be afraid to ask. Remember there are no stupid questions only stupid answers
  8. when i have had to do the morning sickness repair in smaller continentals i tied a piece of dental floss to the corrugations on the valve to make it easier to get the valve back into alignment with the valve guide. always worked easily and the floss can be fished thru the guide with a pait od flexible grabbers after the reaming is done but what do i know i am not a professional mechanic so take everything i say with a grain of salt
  9. yup that is the sign that i saw. thanks
  10. I was in KSJC the other day and when looking out the window I saw a sign that said (I believe) Mooney on it. It is on theSE side of the airport on a galvanized hanger above the door track.just curious but was it a Mooney sign? It was pretty weatherbeaten and I just wanted to know some history
  11. If he doesn’t buy it I would like to be contacted am interested in buying it. Thanks
  12. Thank you for the offer but I have a generator so it won’t work for me but Shadrach has an old serviceable one in the mail to me. Thanks again mooneyspace members!
  13. am needing to find a voltage regulator for a generator for my plane. does anybody have one out there that they are willing to sell? This empty pipeline of parts is difficult to keep birds in the air ,I called aircraft spruce and was told about a 6 week lead time to get a new zeftronics to me. Soooo if anybody has one they are willing to sell please contact me. Mine is for the 50 amp generator. thanks
  14. I was looking thru my logbooks since it is that time of year (annual) and reflecting back on my planes history I saw that the test flight was done by C. L. Lane. Does anybody have any info on him? Just wondering if he was still alive or not Any info would be interesting to me.Thanks in advance
  15. Looking for a strobe bulb for my plane. I haven’t been able to find one so if anybody can help I would appreciate it. The part number is w55-0723-1.
  16. sad to see it sitting on a ramp looking abandoned
  17. I was at Atlantic Aviation in KMDW couple of weeks ago and have seen a mooney sitting on the ramp on the north side of atlantic. I tried to read the number off of it while in the taxi as I drove off and thought it was 9758M but that doesn't come up to any registered aircraft. It looks pretty weather beaten and was sad to see a mooney sitting there like that. Does anybody have any info on the plane ? Just curious since it is in a busy airport and I am sure tiedown fees are significant
  18. This is what the aerodynamics sounded like to me. I watched my wife’s eyes glaze over when I watched this video and now I know how she felt
  19. Imagine how the car drivers insurance conversation. Well I was driving along and all of the sudden there was this plane in MY lane so i pulled out to pass andddddd
  20. I landed in klvk this evening and taxiing in I saw an older Mooney on its nose but the props were not bent, the mains were down and locked but the nose gear was folded up.I asked the line guy at 5 rivers about it and he told me that the owner had an emergency landing on a road and after successfully landing without damage a car hit it. How ironic
  21. Aerostar Super 700. Fast and efficient. I used to fly one and planned it at 240 kts conservatively at FL 190
  22. just an addendum to my flying bug. We lived near several Titan II missile silos and continuously had SAC blue trucks around and helicopters flying overhead. Did you know that a 5 year old child waving red pajamas on a Saturday morning will get the military helicoptors to hover immediately over the house at 6 am when said child waves them at the helicopters ? ask my sleeping mom and dad how I learned these things. I am sure there were some interesting bar stories about that incident
  23. at about 2 years old I was terrified of planes ,as in, hid when one flew over. My mom took me to the airport and ever since then I wanted to fly. After high school graduation and a nomination to the air force academy, the academy wanted me to go to a jr college for a year since I had no athletics in high school ( I was focusing on academics and had a job) no time for after school extracurricular activities. I put myself thru a 4 year college and then marched to the air force recruiter who told me that they weren't taking any officers but if I wanted to go in as enlisted.... Went to the navy recruiter and took all of the aptitude and physical tests and scored highly. Paperwork was sent in and 2 weeks later the movie Top Gun was released. Sent myself to flight school and here i am 35 years later
  24. please put me on the list for a downlock block
  25. Vantage plane plastics
