  1. thanks i finally got it and learned a little at the same time!!!
  2. sorry to say i am not that computer literate. if you would give me directions i will be happy to change it.embarrassingly enough i didn't realize that i didn't spell it right
  3. thinking of making the turntable pivot and act as its own ramp that would go level as the tire went over the axle and then pin the turntable to the bar. Will have to remove the long bar and remake it. will have to look at the angle and see what looks like it would work best
  4. Thanks but will probably at least 1-11/2 yrs before I get to take that step on mine but will keep your offer in mind if something changes(like me winning the lottery)
  5. Part of my problem is I have to go off-roading to get the plane to the ramp. The taxiway does not connect to the ramp. That is why I am using a lawn tractor to tug and I am having to be extremely careful. I have to disconnect and hand turn 1 corner as it is
  6. am thinking of putting a slideout onto the front of the ramp to make it (temporarily at least) a single unit to keep it from bucking to clarify the slideout would mount the ramp to the bottom of the turntable axle and be removed after the wheel is on the turntable
  7. turntable is the same plane as the ramp already. when you start to pull the plane onto the ramp it tries to lift the turntable much like a hinge point . the bearing was a 1000lb bearing from ebay for a lazy susan
  8. Well building the tow bar saga continues. After getting the tow bar built it was time for the test. Attempting to Rachet the nose wheel onto the turntable made the ramp and the tow bar want to buck up. I made a longer more gradual ramp but it did the same thing.when I did this the ramp got between the rotating assemblies and ruined the bearing $16. Have to figure out to keep the ramp and tow bar from buching up. Maybe something that temporarily attaches to the turntable. Once I get this figured out I will replace the bearing and report on how it works.
  9. Am glad to hear it isn’t dead. was afraid he had heard some rumor recently that I should be worried about. Guess he is a glass half empty guy. Can keep planning for an update on the plane in the future then. Thanks
  10. I was talking to a friend today that is in the avionics business and after me telling him about wanting to equip my personal flying carpet with an autopilot in the next couple of years and leaning toward trutrac due to price he told me that trutrac had been bought out and any new autopilots were probably not gonna happen. Did I miss some announcement or conversation or is he a guy that is looking at the glass as half empty?am kind of wondering due to seeing how I will have to plan my finances for the future upgrade
  11. the stops are set to not let it touch the tubes but i am hoping that the wheel wont want to turn and the turntable will do all the work. Will have to see how it works when iget home next week and after i make the ramp to aid in pulling it up on the turntable
  12. Glad you like it
  13. Well I finally got it completed (almost) I still ha e to make the ramp/tire stop. Here are photos of it. I made where it should easily handle 1000 lbs according to the bearing I bought (we will see if that is true. For. Ow I can tell you it moves and swivels easily
  14. I just located 1 hole carefully and then put painters tape around the perimeter then marked holes and then moved the tape to locate the holes to the new plastic
  15. Well my mistake. After a buddy brought a test box to help set up the tail beacon the Xperia’s was getting interrogated sitting on the ground so we got it set up in just a few minutes. What surprised me about the ground interrogation is that radar won’t pick me up until about 2000 -2500 feet
  16. to learn the challenger look upon goolge earth m74 my hanger is one of the four running north to south and if the ground isnt asphalt it is rough
  17. one of the problems i neglected to mention is i have to cross am unpaved area to get to the taxiway to my hanger. It will have to be a towbar with tires that can handle soft terrain
  18. Yes I was thinking of a tow at with 2 wheels and a turntable between them. The tire would have to be held secured to the turntable with maybe a drop bar to keep it from rollin when I move foreword or backward
  19. That is not a turntable and would move the nose wheel as I turned
  20. due to taxiway difficulties at the airport that i base at I have to tug my plane. This got me to thinking about a towbar that attaches to a turntable for the fromt wheel to sit on. This would prevent oversteering the nosewheel. Is there anything on the market like that or has somebody already designed something like that? would hate to try to engineer something like that to only find that it doesnt work or somebody has already designed something.I would appreciate any input on this
  21. The system disabled in flight. So the initialization must be some on the ground and the xpdr must be replying to imterrogation
  22. unusual problem with my tailbeacon. Here in the rural area i am in there are very few towers to be able to get xpdr interrogation on the ground and that is a requirement to initially set up the tail beacon. guess i will have to find some place around with a tower and ramp space i can land and just sit on to initialize the tailbeacon
  23. i pre ordered thru aircraft spruce and received my tailbeacon on wed. now just to find time to install it
  24. Well I have done 13.7 in one day but that was with autopilot and stopped for a 3 hr nap at hr 12. I would never make the mistake of doing that again but it was back in the 90’s when I did what was required to keep a job. Fortunately the boss only asked me to do that once hbz-btr-mgm-mth-mgm-hbz. All in an a36 bonanza
  25. Thank you. Now to get out and meet start meeting everybody
