  1. my ppl cost about 4k in 2003. 42 hours logged, passed the checkride, but spread it out so long, I actually felt the exponential rise in pricing. I started at calevaras airport, 67$ plane 25$ instructor got tired of driving switched to Livermore airport, 90$ plane, 30$ instructor life and move to florida about 6 mos Orlando executive 110$ plane, 35$ instructor I think we're all culpable for the current state of GA. Pilots are accepting and some even proud of outrageous pricing( it's safety, it's aviation, if you don't have it get out ) Lawyers/courts/lawsuits Vendors ( esp Garmin ) -- come on 10k for a gps that is barely as capable as my Samsung tablet? 120$ for rubber disc?
  2. think so, just picked the smallest size possible. Actually, i'm on the second set, first set prevented a coffee spill from ruining my seat.
  3. autozone seat covers work great, was forced to get them due to wife using the seat as a step
  4. I use a Samsung s2 8 inch and a Samsung s3 both with Garmin Pilot. 8 inch tablet gets hung over the visor while the larger s3 has a ram mount to the center support. Works great. also all the Samsungs have built in GPS
  5. omg, so sorry for the families, what could've possibly happened?
  6. being honest, I follow the startup checklist to the T, have no idea why. Other than that, only checklist I religiously follow is GUUUUUMPFs.
  7. I just replaced the incandescent with the Parmetheus Plus par 46, the new LED is FAR brighter than the incandescent it replaced.
  8. chrixxer just heard your atc conversation from the Burbank incident, have to say you were incredibly composed and calm, way to handle it.
  9. man chrixxer glad you got her out of there, hope you get back in the air soon. hey can I have your sl30 8)

  11. you'd be able to buy a really good one for the amount it'll take to refurb this one. engine, prop and tanks will be at-least 50 to 60k. you could get lucky. Aviation is def not for the smart, follow your heart
  12. there's a guy in Lafayette Indiana, Lafayette avionics that can fix Anything. repaired my ki-214 when no one else would even look at it.
  13. da hell with a stratus, find the vette. it's the mooney of automobiles. seriously ridiculously fast and still gets 30mpg
  14. Have to say the brittain works great. Except for altitude hold. Whst parts do i need
  15. that reminds me, how difficult do you think it would be to install the brittain altitude hold. I currently have the original brittain navflite-II.
  16. skates this is what I basically came up with, gnc 300xl with installation is less than half the price of the 6000$ 430w. Get all basic gps approaches and will finally be able to mark /G
  17. stop at KEYE, it's directly across the street from Rick's Café Boatyard http://ricksboatyard.com/ really really nice place.
  18. looks like i'm gonna do the same, just can't justify spending a boatload for my weekend toy. most likely a garmin 300xl and indicator this year. was hoping to be able to swing a gns480 but have to save money for gas 8). g5's next year.
  19. Congrats, we went with general instead of star this year, 500$ discount.
  20. Anyone else have an urge to drive their cars on the road lines? Atleast I got in a few touch and go's today, must've been withdrawal 8)
  21. always top off the tanks and visually check; even if I fuel the plane myself. when it comes to fuel, Trust no one.
  22. hmm Monroy tanks for my E are looking more and more likely. 8)
