  1. hmm, am i unclear on something? the text on aircraft spruce and the ei site, say the ei cgr-30p can be used as a replacement for primary instruments. only thing that might not be replaced is fuel quantity ( don't use these anyway ) and vacuum pressure.
  2. Really thinking about buying and installing an EI CGR-30p/b/c any reports ? I have an empty 3 inch hole in front of the pilots seat, thinking it would go good. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/graphics/promos/2018/EI-Rebate-Feb-2018.pdf
  3. No ki-214 darn things are almost impossible to repair, only ONE guys in Lafayette, IN can fix the darn things. i'm wanting to buy a val ins-429.
  4. can i ask what all is being done? I'm thinking of doing the same thing come may/june. my plan is garmin 300xl/480/430, G5 current quotes are around 5k for installation.
  5. really really simple here gumpfs 3x before abeam. flaps, pull power, pitch for 90-80 land. oh yeah gumpfs check soon as i turn final.
  6. yeah need to avoid the above. my wife read another thread about fuel management, something about running a tank dry and decided she would have none of that. first time that engine stops with her in it, might be my last day on earth.
  7. I'd actually like to know also, been a little slow once or twice reaching for that selector.
  8. i'm thinking of installing a garmin 255a and a 300xl this year and just calling it a day. avionics are stupidly expensive.
  9. I remember reading something on how auto engines are tested, essentially anything you could possibly do to them has been done. run @100% till they explode, tested. shock heating and cooling, tested no oil, to much oil, bad oil, bad air, good gas, bad gas, etc.. and that is your standard run of the mill grocery getter engine. if i remember correctly, gm's in house testing is far greater than anything required by the faa.
  10. Hey had a great flight to lake Charles, la this weekend. great weather good flying. unfortunately, the fixed step up into the plane broke when i stepped on it. Anyone know where and how much for a replacement, anyone just remove it ?
  11. Garmin PIlot here, only use wxBrief when i want to look at larger weather maps for some reason
  12. 'm leaning towards having the beacon removed at annual, probably pick up 10 knots. My understanding, having strobes at each corner of the plane makes the actual beacon unnecessary.
  13. what didn't you like about the skyview ?
  14. hmm if those are the instructions, i'm golden. 6 inches of antennae wiring, no taking down my headliner. sounds like a day or two to install a 650.
  15. how much are you asking for the 300xl and indicator?
  16. hey the gps antennae on your nose, is that legal? I'm looking to have new equip installed and that may save me a boat load of time.
  17. hey is the mounting of the gps antennae here legal? I'd like to do the same.
  18. I started training for my private at KCPU, flying over lake Michigan at night seems a lot safer than doing the same over mountains.
  19. from Mike Ropers "When entering your Mooney, step down into plane with your right foot first then using the grab handle swing yourself into the pilot seat"
  20. actually a lot has changed. Automotive equipment is now more durable, efficient and cheaper. Aviation? Same place.
  21. man aren't you an elitist snob.
  22. What about adapting augmented reality glasses for aviation usage? would def be sweet. Imagine heads up displays and advanced avionics without having to install anything in our certificated dinosaurs
  23. Try not to be discouraged, just because people don't want to see or hear it doesn't mean it's not coming for them. seriously, the $50000 avionics in our planes don't compare to the 500$ phone in our pockets and we think that's great. smh.
  24. Wow you know, i never put two and two together, Can this be done legally? I've done industrial computing for 25 years, it would be simple to build my own engine monitor. Could i maybe put this under owner produced parts ?
  25. wow, just wow. excuse me for expressing shock at the continual raping of us airplane owners. I think part of the reason crap is so expensive is due to people being accepting of anything they throw out there. carusoam, "horse you rode in on"
