  4. Best System: 2x Alpine 35series amps, 2x JVC subs in sealed box running gasp stereo, 4x Alpine components in cab. this system still gives me the old warm and fuzzy. Hope you get up and running soon.
  5. Mine isn't connected to the DG. it has a heading knob on the autopilot for magnetic heading( flux valve is in tail ). you set the radial with your obs, then turn the knob on the ap to match. not sure how that would work with gps.
  6. Adding a GPS to my bird, wondering what it would take to get a gps to work with the Brittain NavFlite II( think it's a B5) It does work being connected to the Nav radios but you have to set the magnetic heading to match the radial you're following. wierd
  7. one other question are you sure it's the ci-196 for a 74e commants site says j and k
  8. darn that's what i thought, was hoping to avoid putting more gps warts on my plane
  9. Anyone know the correct replacement comm antennae for a 1974 m20e ? Also what are the chances of getting one of the commant combo antennaes to fit ex. ci2580-200 or ci2480-200.
  10. Man I would order one of those today.
  11. I can't wait to finish my IFR, Houston has had nothing but rain and clouds for the last month. If I have to go round the pattern one more time.
  12. Don't worry too much, my first two years of ownership haven't been bad at all. 2 annuals, new baffles, umpteen oil changes, lots and lots of avgas. next year will be expensive, panel update and mag overhauls. Just a note, I'm accepting donations 8)
  13. Popeye's bag wrapped around filter while loosening works perfect, not a single drop spilled.
  14. OUCH but bright side, insurance or shop will pay for your overhaul 8)
  15. DAMN I belong to both groups
  16. i'm installing a 300xl, can't justify spending 14 to 20k installing a new 650 in a 50k airplane.
  17. I'm planning on it, waiting for the right time to ask permission
  18. removed my step after the weld broke from some fatty stepping on it <---- haven't bothered to put it back. Strangely enough, it was only held in by 1 bolt.
  19. would agree, the one thing that helped me was getting the kids out of my pocket. I estimate the cost of flying my m20e 100 hours per year to be approx. 110$/hr compared to about 140$ rental rate, I WIN. 50 75 100 150 200 375 12 4500 4500 4500 4500 4500 4500 0 12 0 0 0 0 0 0 1100 1100 1100 1100 1100 1100 10 10 5.64 56.4 2820 4230 5640 8460 11280 5656.4 8420 9830 11240 14060 16880 168.4 131.06667 112.4 93.73333 84.4
  20. my ppl cost about 4k in 2003. 42 hours logged, passed the checkride, but spread it out so long, I actually felt the exponential rise in pricing. I started at calevaras airport, 67$ plane 25$ instructor got tired of driving switched to Livermore airport, 90$ plane, 30$ instructor life and move to florida about 6 mos Orlando executive 110$ plane, 35$ instructor I think we're all culpable for the current state of GA. Pilots are accepting and some even proud of outrageous pricing( it's safety, it's aviation, if you don't have it get out ) Lawyers/courts/lawsuits Vendors ( esp Garmin ) -- come on 10k for a gps that is barely as capable as my Samsung tablet? 120$ for rubber disc?
  21. think so, just picked the smallest size possible. Actually, i'm on the second set, first set prevented a coffee spill from ruining my seat.
  22. autozone seat covers work great, was forced to get them due to wife using the seat as a step
  23. I use a Samsung s2 8 inch and a Samsung s3 both with Garmin Pilot. 8 inch tablet gets hung over the visor while the larger s3 has a ram mount to the center support. Works great. also all the Samsungs have built in GPS
