  1. hmm, this might just be the upgrade i've been waiting on, currently run Garmin PIlot on a samsung tab s7 and an ipad mini 5. Due to the iPad having an internal cell connection, it’s more used, but the S7 with the better screen is what I prefer using. this may just give me the best of both worlds
  2. BAM, just sayin
  3. Hmm, think you should suck it up and buy a boat. def think of worse things in life
  4. take it too your local motor repair shop ? 20k sounds like the definition of owner supplied parts
  5. Brian Isbell, Bk Aircraft Services 832.595.5008 I'm based at KDWH small world. oh yeah, per above, the real diff is landing, get really good at approaching on speed and being stabilized. then it's really just about holding her off until she squeals to the nicest landing you'll ever experience. now if you don't hold her off and you drop her, well, she'll act just like a basketball
  6. As far as planes go, you'll be fine. don't rush enjoy learning the plane. remember you can fly the plane slower if things are moving a bit too fast. I see you say you're based at KAXH, AP/IA Brian Isabell is based on that field, seriously one of the most knowledgeable mooney AP/IAs in Houston. Also he flies so if you need someone to go give it a prebuy/annual he can sort u
  7. They are just trying to get my hopes up 8( Just in case @Jeev, i'll be in Vegas oct 11 or 12 hehe
  8. why not gi-275's same form factor?
  9. hmm, that's a thought. I could build a small media server; load it up with movies and music.
  10. I'm not sure, really don't know much about what's going on since the pandemic started. do you have a hangar at khou ? man that would be cool as hell, who do i talk to? My brittain tracks magenta, and vors, even does approaches. If it had altitude hold i wouldn't think of replacing it. that being said, gfc500 or trutrak (yeah i know but i'm still about 6 mos out ) is next on my upgrade list.
  11. Replaced my step with this, less weight and more uses. folds for convenient storage ,
  12. figured out, sliding the seat back in an E is actually worth a knot or two.
  13. need better autopilot
  14. I generally fly IFR or atleast have FF, so constantly listening for ATC. watch engine gauges and fuel flows. look for engine out locations. look for interesting things on the ground. sometimes music but it's annoying as it's constantly interrupted by atc. I fly between 8000 and 12000 ft, every so often check the pulse ox and maybe take a couple puffs of oxygen just to stay fresh. I also find 8k plus avoids most traffic. honestly, once en-route at altitude, it isn't even .25 the workload of driving.
  15. yeah, something about Garmin/foreflight not getting along i'm guessing, shrug. at one point the new stratus 3 was supposed to work but seems it didnt happen. there was an article that came out a while back about the original stratus being developed exclusively for use with foreflight
  16. my bird has an appareo stratus and transponder, which gives me in and out. unfortunately, the stratus only works with foreflite, so i also have a gdl393d to provide the adsb-in to garmin pilot. maybe garmin 375 would fit the bill, love my gns480, seriously love but hey the new boxes are just nice.
  17. bah i'm trying to get somewhere
  18. Can i take and use a small inverter Generator? is it worth it ? also, was thinking of taking my bike but seeing as it can only be used around the north/south 40 is it worth it ?
  19. TPS report?
  20. is it okay to only stay part of the week or arrive in the middle ?
  21. i'd say ask 80 let them talk you down or pay
  22. i can understand an engine grenading but wow, 15k is a worse than average annual? what kinda messed up maintenance is that ? i
  23. My surefly has been absolutely flawless. engine starts and runs like butter. One day i'll get a switch so it doesn't stumble when checking mags. the 28v issue is well known to surefly, i wonder why you aren't allowed the same fixes for the lycoming "surefly"
  24. Fingers are crossed but as it looks now i may Just may be able to make OSHKOSH this year. As a total OSHKOSH nubz, any info will be helpful. I'm planning on airplane camping, what should i bring? How big of a tent can/should i bring? what supplies? grill? campfires ? etc... Any info for me and the M20E would be useful. wonder if i can fit my bike in the mooney
  25. let go of the yoke, grab the metal bar in the windshield, pull yourself forward till you can reach it. think i'll be going to home depot tomorrow
