  1. I have the P2 advisory system installed in my J. It was installed by a previous owner. I like it. It is re-assuring to hear a voice in your headset on short final "Gear is down for landing". It is speed based, so if you are practicing slow flight with the gear up, the voice in your headset gets pretty annoying quite quickly.
  2. Anyone have the schematic for an 87 J model? I am having the same issue. Gear lights work but push to test does not. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I have a pair of Halo's that I would sell if you are interested in a slight discount. They are virtually brand new. I think I only tried them twice. They work well, I just realized that I hate having something stuck into my ears. It's a personal preference thing I guess. I will have to say, it feels kind of weird wearing them for the first time when you are accustomed to wearing normal headsets. I can clearly understand how someone would try to exit the airplane with them still on.
  4. Totally agree. It’s doubtful you will ever find a nicer one than this. You can be comfortable buying this one sight unseen - write the man a check and go pick it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have a Garmin GTX 345 Transponder with a built in timer. Does this count?
  6. I don't mind paying $150 for a wingtip lens as much as I mind paying nearly $50 for shipping. What was the shipping charge for you?
  7. Technically he said it could be flown with a ferry permit. He didn’t mention he would get one for you. Probably could get it to fly if you are brave enough. I am not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you drop a plug, you should always drop it a second time - in the trash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Rear strobe / position bulb. Almost $500
  10. You wouldn’t happen to have an Aspen EA100 in that stash would you? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Is this still available?
  12. I get lightning with ForeFlight Pro plus received through my Garmin gtx345 transponder. I will say I see more activity in terms of lighting on my strikefinder than on my tablet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This is a nice event. Two people - Elizabeth and Warren
  14. I was only practicing a bit until I in fact did blow past him. He has not had any formation training so the most I could hope for was him to fly straight and level until I tired of flying slowly!
  15. A little formation practice. Flew formation with a buddies 182. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. These are very expensive. I purchased one from Lasar in December (seems like it was the only one in inventory at the time) and it was $492 shipped. Worst part is, it turned out to be a bad connection so I didn't really need it. I guess I have a spare.
  17. Recognize the airport? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Don't wait too long to replace the cable if lubricating it doesn't help. Broke a throttle cable on a cherokee - fortunately on the ground. Would have been a little too interesting if it happened in the air.
  19. I don't have the stock ammeter so I really don't know actually what it is indicating. The current draw is being displayed on the VM1000 engine monitor.
  20. The humming noise was gone as well as the low voltage indication as soon as I started shedding electrical loads. Pitot heat, TKS pump, etc. Is this consistent with a bad filter? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Have had a couple of instances where I had electrical anomalies. First instance was over voltage warning during climb. I had already entered IMC so I kept climbing- the issue “corrected “ it self after 10-15 seconds. Second instance was also during climb in IMC where the voltage was dropping out to 11-12 volts. Both time the TKS pumps were on. When I was getting low voltage, the amp meter was indicating about 40 amps as almost all electrical devices were on. The issue was corrected after we popped out on top and started shedding electrical loads. Also had a humming in the headset during this time as well. I am wondering if I have a voltage regulator issue or an alternator issue? Potentially I could have a slipping belt but I don’t think that explains why I had a over voltage condition. Thoughts? 22. My mechanic told me it is either "leaking" Lycoming's or "cracking" Continentals. Not sure if it is true......
  23. Last year was my first year. After the first day of formation training, I was thinking of going home. I'm glad I stayed. Now, I cannot wait for it - it's so much fun flying into OSH this way. A bit intense for us new guys, but loads of fun. I realize it isn't for everyone, but would recommend giving it a try.
  24. One of the best deals in avionics. I have the flight steam 210 with my 530W. It’s awesome. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Looks almost as bad as yesterday when I took off from LJF (Minnesota). Popped out at 3000 for a smooth ride to Michigan on top all the way. Ground speed was north of 170 knots most of the way. Descent through the clouds at 45 degrees F. Hangar was a swamp with so much humidity in the air[emoji15]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
