  1. Took my boss about 15 min to remove the Lt mag and about 45 min for me to remove the alt. the hardest part was getting some of the wire removed, no tilting or disconnecting required. It was a tight access and I have an intercooler on one side and standby vac on the other. It should go back on easy with both mags out of the way. Pritch
  2. Been having problems keeping the battery charged and the amp meter has been bouncing between -15 and +25. So today I got my boss to put one mag so that I could get to the alt. (TSIO360). The brushes were shot and the shaft could be pushed pulled about an 1/8 inch, main bearing was shot and allowing oil to pass though, aw my oil leak found. After looking in the log books the pressurized mags were just over 500 hrs so I had the boss pull the other mag, so both will be rebuilt and installed after the new alt. to make my job easier. Slowly but surely this 231 is getting to be perfect plane. Pritch
  3. This happens way way way more than you think. Living in the Emerald Triangle, we hear of this all the time. Back in the 90's when I was in the CAP, our plane was used to fly the coast so Customs could keep track of planes landing at the out of normal sight airports. There used to be a twin that would come into our local airport that Customs would keep track of going coast to coast. Pritch
  4. They are going to be expensive Pritch
  5. @peevee did the M20F at Shelter Cove look like this one. Pritch Did you notice all the Marijuana grows in the hills around the Cove?
  6. What part of June will you be coming to the North Coast. I am Hangared at Keka and can give you some insight to the weather (fog) when you are getting close. Pritch
  7. I used George Woods out of Woodland just up the road from SAC. He flies a Mooney Rocket and is listed in the Mooney Flyer. (530) 414-1679 Pritch
  8. On Friday 4 miles south of KRDD (Redding, CA) a Cessna crash landed from running out of fuel. The only time you have to much fuel is if you are on FIRE. I personally will never go below 35 gal. The older I get the more cautious I get. Pritch
  9. You flew right over my home field and didn't even stop (KEKA). And no joking aside there are lots of sharks in Humboldt Bay, from Leopard to Cow sharks and an occasional lawyer. In my younger day we used to hunt them with Bow and Arrow, great eating. Pritch
  10. 32 yrs ago, today, my instructor kicked me out of the nest and I soloed. Oh God what an experience, and I am still doing it. Pritch
  11. On my old C I had a 1/2 inch pipe end with a hole drilled in it and had a threaded bolt same as the tiedown and would insert and jack with a hydraulic jack that sat on a large cement core sample. After wheel removal I would put a block of wood under the axel for added safety. Pritch
  12. Now you have peaked my interest as I still need oil temp and pressure. Pritch
  13. Or maybe you are Vernon from Waco and want to light up the cigarette.
  14. Hector, if you go into program mode and go all the way to the end (END?) then push and hold the step and LF buttons FACTORY SET. Scroll through to JPI730 and hit change and it will change to JPI830. I have added TIT, OAT, RPM, and MAP sensors, and made my own jumper cable from my JPI450 to add fuel flow, so now it also gives me % of HP. Pritch
  15. Just finished adding RPM, Map and OAT and piggy backing my JPI 450 to my JPI730. Then went into Factory setting and change it to an 830. The marvels of modern equipment always amazes this old dog. Pritch
  16. They have been around for awhile. I put one on my old C back in 1990ish. Pritch
  17. Look up posts by jlunseth, I have been reading a lot by him. I now understand much more about how to operate my K. There are also several others on here that are very knowledgeable on flying the K LOP. Pritch
  18. After having a C model for yrs I would never give up my K for a J, they look way sexier with the longer cowl and perform better. Just my biased opinion. Pritch
  19. A well taken care of 84K, my turn not only to maintain, but improve for the next lucky owner. Pritch
  20. We used to have a Dr. up here on the North Coast named Richard Head. And yes he did go by Dick. Pritch
  21. Don't forget to paint the tug to match the plane. Pritch
  22. Back in the early 90's I build an all new panel for my 63C and the local A&I who later went to work for the feds signed it off. By the way what do you do up in Beautiful Hazen ND, I might be one of the few on this Forum who has been there not once but 4 times. Pritch
  23. Does anyone know if this belt buckle is still available? Pritch
  24. Just learned something interesting today. If you plug your Ipad into a charger, the cord must first be plugged into the charger first then into the Ipad or it will not charge. Whether in the house car or in the plane. I had the problem the other day where my Ipad would not charge in the plane and I thought that it was a bad plug, I switched out to another plug and it worked, but I had also unplugged from the Ipad. Long story short, another pilot comes into the office today while we are having a Bravo Sierra session, and said that he had this same problem and was about to get a new Ipad when his IT guy said that there is a switch in the Ipad that will only allow the charger to be plugged in one way. For what its worth. Pritch
