  1. Just curious if anyone has installed a King KNS 770 and if so how do you like it. I am looking at all the options available before planning a new panel. Pritch
  2. One thing that I have started to do is, after shutdown I open the oil cap and let the steam escape and leave it open until I get it in the hangar. Once in the hangar I replace the cap, before closing the doors. Not sure if it helps but it can't hurt. Pritch
  3. Has anyone upgraded to the KT74 yet, Pros and cons Please Pritch
  4. My old 63C is closer, yours= 4/26/63. My old one 6167u= 5/8/63 and 6670U= 3/1/63. 6761U is live and well in Claremore, OK Pritch
  5. When I started flying again last yr, my CFI was retired AF and flew the A10 and then went on to fly the U2. Now besides teaching new students, he also flys for Kendall-Jackson Winery. With all his flying, yesterday he said that he only had about an hour of Blue knob time. I think I will take him up in the Mooney and let him get some more blue knob time as a thank you for his service. Pritch
  6. Read the recent tread on 231's in Modern Mooney discussion and mostly what jlunseth has to say. Pritch
  7. Check Ebay, saw one there yesterday, plus other K parts Pritch
  8. Remember to get a Batteryminder and not a Batterytender as Concorde will not warranty your battery. There is a little blup on Aircraft Spruce under the Concorde batteries that says use of the Batterytender will void all warranties. Pritch
  9. First Mooney a sweet 63C I had for 13 yrs and 625 hrs . Second Mooney a nice 84k, just about 11 months now. Pritch
  10. Don't underestimate the K. Like you I flew in the 80s and 90s and then quit. Back at now and since my wife if from ND and we are in CA I looked at something that would get over the Rockies with no problem. 70 hrs in the K so far and it a piece of cake to fly, very stable and fairly fast. I was getting 188 kt on 12 gals ROP at 7500 last Fri going over to the Sacramento Valley. A lot of times you will find the K cheaper than the J. Pritch
  11. Got my Private in 1985, bought my first Mooney in 1989, sold it and quit flying in 2002. Started flying again in Oct 2015, bought my second Mooney in Feb 2016, put 70 hrs on last yr and hope for many more this yr. Pritch
  12. Quick hop from the North Coast over to Redding CA for lunch today. Great view of Mt Shasta and a lot of low clouds on the way back, came down through a hole over Humboldt Bay. Love those spoilers on the wings, makes dropping through a hole easy peasy. Some great speeds at 7500 ft and not burning to much fuel. Pritch
  13. Here is one M20Doc posted on here made from a snowblower. Pritch
  14. Had my PPI done at Lake Aero Styling last FEB for $1500. they were very through and I was there for most of it. Having helped with my annuals on my 63C I had a pretty good idea what was going on and was very satisfied with their work. Pritch PS and I got to meet Bonal at Lakeport.
  15. $230 a month dog and power included. Fuel is $5.68 a gal so I always come home with full tanks (75 usable). Brand new hangars go for $400, all county owned plus you have to pay property taxes on the hangar you rent. Pritch
  16. Tried a new app on my Ipad yesterday. I have been using Flightaware but was not impressed with the way aircraft advanced. With Flightradar24, not only can you see planes taxiing around major airports but watch them taking off and climbing. This works great when I am keeping tracked of my wife when she is flying home commercially, and I know when to leave for the airport. I took my Ipad with me to see how much lag time there was from the actual landing and what the Ipad showed. It was only 20 to 30 seconds. Pritch
  17. Someone had to get on the ground to snap a shot and then rejoin and left my passenger to snap some more. We had a C,F,J and K flying. Pritch
  18. Severe Clear on the coast of NorCal today, we got 4 Mooney up for formation flying. Pritch
  19. Back to the original subject, I have 2 pair of DC 10-40s and 1 10-30 from the 80's, had DC refurbish them when I started flying again last yr after 13 yrs of non flying. BUT when I bought my M20k the owner gave me a pair of Sennheiser HMEC 450 wired in for power so no batteries. Love them. Pritch
  20. Just a screenshot of my K at 7500 ft on a warm Oct day in CA between Eureka and Ukiah about 150kia. Still learning the ins and outs. 84k with the LB. Pritch
  21. Got my private in 85, bought my first Mooney in 89, and IFR 12/20/90. Quit flying in 02 and sold Baby. Fast forward to 2015... got the itch to fly again, BFR in Oct and bought my K in Feb of 16. Furthest flight, North Coast of CA to OSH. ( and back). Pritch
  22. 13 yr and 650 hrs in my 63C and then stopped flying for 13 yrs and now 9 months and 50 hrs in my 84k. Pritch
  23. I rode in a early 60's Comanche 260 the other day and have to say that I was IMPRESSED!
  24. I have now added checking the spoilers to my check list. I deploy them during my walk around and lift the stall switch and down they go. Pritch
  25. Finally had time to pick up my log books after my annual and they are definitely Spoiler Inc. 'BUT' the hydraulic power pac has a TurboPlus sticker on it. Pritch
