  1. I was working when removed, but would recommend it be checked out. The processor was located in the tail next to the battery. Pritch
  2. I have a WX 10a that I just pulled out before installing a GTN750, Pritch
  3. I had my PPI done at Lasar 2 yrs ago and it was 1500 for an 84 K Pritch
  4. And not to mention that a 231 with the longer cowling it just Damn Sexy. Pritch
  5. The avionics shop finished my new panel today, so as soon as the weather clears here on the west coast I can go pick her up. New GTN 750, GTX 345 and GPSS. Let the learning begin. Pritch
  6. I can't even find an automotive mechanic for that little. Have you tried an avionics shop to fix you PPT, they would be quicker and more knowledgeable. Both Lincoln and Santa Rosa have good shops.
  7. So if $120 an hr is to much to pay, how much are you willing to pay?
  8. That's why they made Yankee screwdrivers, way before electric drivers. Pritch
  9. You mean a picture like this
  10. Back in 90' I flew from the North Coast of CA to Osh, never went over 11.5. We went from Eka to Burly Id to Rapid City and out through the flats. Coming back Pierre SD to Livingston MT to Spokane to EKA all at 10.5. This was in my old 63C, just have to remember to lean to best power on takeoff on the warmer afternoons at higher elev. Pritch PS one of these days when I fly up to Watford City I will drop down and see you in Hazen PSS here is a picture from today flying up to Medford OR. Mt Shasta in the background. Flying at 9500 ft.
  11. Here is how I mounted my JPI 830, removed the ADF and in it went. In Feb, my 84K is going to JLC Avionics in Ashland Or. to get the GTN 750, 345 in and out and a DAC GPSS. One nice thing is Ashland is only 45 min. away and NO SALES TAX. Pritch PS the second photo is after adding more sensors
  12. My question would be, what is a Fed doing in Hazen, ND in Nov. Pritch
  13. After pulling my seats in my 84k I decided to pull up the foam backed carpet and the foam was stuck to the floor. While doing this I noticed what looked like white powder at the rear of the outside passenger seat rail. After removing ALL the carpet (floor and side panels) the tab that holds the carpet below the read seats had corrosion and a slight amount of surface corrosion on the spar. After a though cleaning and resealing the I/A was satisfied. BUT, while the side panels were out one could see where water had been entering through the door and left stains on the foam board backing, new door seal. Also the fuel pickup and return were leaking and had to be resealed. All of this was missed at my PPI last year at LASAR. Pritch
  14. Last Thursday I posted about removing my glued down carpet padding and finding a little surface corrosion. Upon further inspection I found gray powder by the end of the outside passenger seat rail, so out comes all the carpet on the walls. So on Monday I get to start drilling out the rail so it can be inspected, cleaned primed and painted and replaced. Also, while there I notice that the fuel pickup was leaking and all brown, that will also be cleaned up and resealed. All will be put back together with new carpet to replace the 33 year old wool carpet. Talk about opening a can of worms, but I would not have it any other way. Pritch
  15. I pulled the carpet up and clean it about a year ago on my 84k. However the foam back stayed glued to the floor. Yesterday I pulled the seats out to put new sheepskin covers on and decided it was time to pull the foam off the floor. Armed with several implements I started after it and 4 hrs later all but a little residue was left. However several small patched of surface corrosion were found so tomorrow further investigation will look under the tape in front of the read seats.... This plane has been hangared most of her life, or it might have been a lot worse. Someone had a bad Idea to glue the foam pad down. Pritch

  16. this was an older pic when I first put it in as a 730, since them I have add all the other sensors except oil pressure and temp. Pritch
  17. This is where I mounted my 830, great place and in my scan Pritch
  18. Sounds like a similar problem my boss had with a Seneca a couple of weeks ago. The pilot few the plane to another field, got back in and it would not start. Battery was fine, put in another solenoid, turned on the master and it clicked. Turned it of and back on and nothing. the boss had put a meter on the master switch when we first got there and it was fine. Ended up jumping the solenoid and everything worked. It was flown back to the shop and master switch was pulled out and had burn marks on a couple of the poles. New switch and everything works fine. Pritch
  19. Thanks for the replies, that's what my consensus but another fixed gear pilot thought that the gear down with absorb some of the energy. I was in the school of gear up. Pritch. P.S. Its 3.5 mile across the bay with 1/2 mile spit and then the Pacific Ocean in the attached picture
  20. Question for the day, departing the local airport rway 30 departure is out over the bay. If god forbid an engine out occurs on takeoff its either going to be a water landing or mudflats depending on the tide. Mudflats would be gear up landing, but what would be the best option for water landing. Wheels up and skim or wheels down and ski across the water to loose energy. 3rd option is to land on the perpendicular freeway if speed and alt. allow. Pritch
  21. Landed at Hayfork CA (F62) today so my boss could fix and electrical problem on a Seneca today and this poor Mooney was sitting in the tiedown area. It has been there since 1992. Pritch
  22. From Modesto to Tacoma Narrows is 583nm, that with a 13kt headwind 4h 6m and 41.2 gals of fuel. So if I started with 50gals, would leave me a useful load of 600lbs. Not quite the fuel burned, but not the load the 210 can carry. But than my wife has a 2 hr bladder so stopping for her I could carry less fuel and add more along the way. Just not quite what the 210 can do. But than my 231 is way sexier than any 210. Pritch P.S. I can do it round trip at 76.1 gals, lets see a 210 do that.
  23. Sorry for the loss of your Friend. But I am drooling over the 252, but I would have to sell my 231 first. Pritch
  24. I will be there if this damn smoke clears out of Northern CA. 3000 to 9500 ft. If your in it you are IFR. Pritch
  25. I just bought a set off of Amazon for $11.52 each. 338 fluorosilicone O-ring. Pritch
