  1. Here is my before and after. Before when I was 36 with my 63C and after when I am 63 with my 84K. What will be in store for me next? By the way 6761u picture was taken at the furthest west airport in the continental US (033) Eureka Muni. Pritch
  2. I have a full King Silver Panel that is out dated. Going to get rid of the RNAV, ADF, VFR GPS and KY197. Thinking about a King KSN770 or GTN 650 and trading the 76A transponder for the plug n play 74 for ADS-B out. Everything else is King (HSI, AI KX165 and KFC150) so I just might want to stay all King. I welcome any thoughts. Pritch
  3. Yes for Falcon, was with them from 90 to 02 when I sold and quit flying. Fast forward 13 years I started flying again, with only 10 hrs under my belt, they quoted 1100 on my new to me 84 K. I guess it doesn't hurt to have 650 hrs retract time in the log book. Only requirement was 5 dual and 5 solo. Pritch
  4. Lots of fun going up and fast coming down. Hit the pattern at 130 k drop the gear and you are down to 100 k, grab the first flaps and start down 80 on final and no more than 70 across the fence or she will float all the way down the runway. Enjoy the K model is a blast to fly. Pritch
  5. What ever you pay for it will be well worth it. My 84K came with it and I an very happy. I can crank it up just enough to see over yet low enough to see the gear lights just under the glare shield. I only paid 87 amu's for my seat and they threw the plane in. Pritch
  6. For the handy cheap Mooney driver, buy a snow blower from Lowes for $500, unbolt the blower attachment and build a tow attachment. For under $600 you have a new tug. Saw something like this on the RV forum. Thinking about this as my 60+ yr old body is finding it harder to push my K than my 40 body pushing my old 63 C model. Pritch
  7. Back in the early 90's I made my own lens cover. Piece of cake. couple of small pieces of angle aluminum screwed to the inside edge, cut a piece of lexan on the bandsaw and heated with a torch to get the bow just right ( several practice tries on scrape). Maybe five dollars worth of material. Back then I was young and cheap and hungry for speed. Pritch
  8. Saw the plane at Lasar, nice looking. Would make a good starter for someone.
  9. This was one of the first attempts at a panel I did for my old 63C back in the early 90's. Other than the crinkle coat paint clumping in a couple of places in worked fine. I did one more version but can not find a picture of it. Half the fun of owning a Mooney is working on it. Pritch
  10. Looks great, I had a 63C N6761U. Love flying but some things come to an end. After 13 yrs I am flying again and wish I still had BABY. But now I have BIG BABY an 84K, a little harder on the gas but not to much. Pritch
  11. It was nice meeting you also, and thanks for the help pushing it back. Had a great flight home and beat the rain by an hour. Had my best landing so far when I got back to my home field. Now the learning begins. Pritch
  12. Got 2 space caps with my K, had the parst guy at lake aero look them up. New they run 2 AMU's each. Stuck them in the safe for now. Pritch
  13. And fuel is on $3.60 at Petaluma right now.
  14. Had a PPI yesterday at Lake Aero Styling and everything was A OK, so I brought it. 1984 M20k, next is 5 hrs duel for insurance and then 5 solo. Original paint that still shines, intercooler, Merlyn and spoiler brakes with King panel. Pritch Where the Redwoods meet the Pacific
  15. That's for sure, the last one was 7G's
  16. Took me a little while to upload, have more in my Ipad but have figure how to.
  17. I sure hope to, my first one, a 63C was nicknamed Baby, this one will be Big Brother.
  18. It is, put a refundable 10% down, but looking at the log books everything should be a go.
  19. Went and looked a M20k inSacramento yesterday, ( the forth one so far) Loved it, Bought it. Goes to Lake Aero next week for a PPI and then home to KEKA. It's a 1984 with King Silver Crown system, 2260 TTAF, 1140 SFRM. Last 20 annuals at Top Gun with one at WilMar. Pritch "Where the Redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean"
  20. Thanks for all the insight, I wish that buying the second Mooney was as easy as it was when I bought my first one back in "89" and flew it for many wonderful years. There are several here in CA that I am looking at, 2 with higher time engines but nicely equipped. Which ever one I choose to go for will have a ppi/annual done by Lake Aero. Resealed tanks are also on the list of must haves. Steve
  21. Has anyone got a rough idea on how much it would cost to do an IRAN on a TSIO 360. Looking a plane with 60 hrs in the last 7 yrs and think a good look inside would be a Great Idea. Steve " Where the Redwoods Meet the Pacific Ocean"
  22. Does anyone have any problems with Lake Aero doing a PPI/Annual. Had them do some work on my 63C yrs ago and was happy then, and they even sold it for me in 2002.
  23. Yesterday was also a good day to fly, from 3500 above KEKA Shasta was a beautiful sight.
  24. Looks like a great M20k, wish I could afford it, but about 15k over my budget.
  25. My last plane was Baby, a friend named his 182 Precious because when you own a plane you have precious little money for anything else.
