  1. I believe it was a custom fabrication by the shop that installed it. I’ll check the paperwork and send you the shop info when I get home Wednesday. It is perfectly angled and easy to read as installed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. http://www.controller.com/ListingsDetail/Detail.aspx?lp=CNT&OHID=32328035 Been such a great airplane the past 3 years. I have unfortunately outgrown the seats with baby #3 and will have to move up. Call or text me with questions or to come see it. 843-478-1963. Hangared at KLRO in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Can’t ask for much more in a J!
  3. LASAR had the gauge I needed and it’s on its way. Thanks everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What is the part number on that? My gut says it’s not legal since the markings don’t correspond, but it’s worth asking. Anyone know the answer to that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Indeed it does! Unfortunately my wife and I just had baby number 3 so 6 seats are in our near future and I already have a JPI 830 in the plane. If only there were an easier way to get the 830 certified as a full replacement... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just sent you a DM with my contact info. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. My oil pressure gauge stopped working, certified inop by the mechanic at the field. We are both having a really hard time finding a replacement. Anyone have one for sale that has had recent panel work or know of where I can get a replacement? Part number for the cluster is 640281-511 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. You mean everyone doesn’t run LOP? Hot starts are a piece of cake. Just don’t touch anything and start er up! Love this place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just to be clear, are you boosting with the mixture to idle cutoff? That is more than likely your issue. You should boost with mixture full rich and then go to idle cutoff to start. With the method you are describing there is no fuel getting to the engine when you boost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have a 78 J. If you have an issue, try keeping the boost pump engaged a little longer. Throttle about 1/4” in, mixture rich for boost. I count to 5 really slowly pull mixture to idle and attempt start. As soon as it turns over slowly go to about 1/2” from full rich as engine comes to life. If not successful within a few a few turns back to full rich, boost once more for 2-3 seconds and back to idle to give it another go. Will start like a charm. Every engine is a little different so you have to find what works for you.
  11. My first year was spent chasing electrical gremlins but I now know the airplane and her systems really well. Find a quality mechanic that will let you peek over his shoulder and ask questions. Do your transition training with a Mooney instructor that knows and better yet owns a Mooney. It makes all the difference. Make a maintenance folder with a list of all SBs and status. This saves a ton of time at annual or if you end up having to go to a different mechanic. Your flight manual is the procedure bible but it's a great exercise making your own checklists that are specific to your airplane. I have a full and condensed version that I laminated and keep tucked in the crease between the pads on the doors. Always available. Include base emergency procedures and you have a quick way to take action. Buy one of those vent scoops today. It puts a scoop outside of the vent window and increases internal airflow by about 1000% after start up. Learn and read everything you can about about your engine and how to take care of it. Hangar your plane if at all possible and fly frequently. If you don't already, get your instrument ticket and enjoy the freedom of owning and flying a wonderful machine. 13. I appreciate it. Stuart is a great airport. Charlie and I went up last week and I think he saw the Mooney light. A nice J will spoil you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I'll be down your way next week in my 78 j. Send me your number and I'll be happy to take you up. I'll be in town Thursday and Friday this week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Anyone coming to LRO is welcome to join us for a cookout and viewing party in Awendaw SC to be one of the last people in the US to see the eclipse from the middle of the band. DM me if interested and I'll be happy to help arrange transportation from the airport. Fingers crossed for severe clear or we may be taking the party to the air to get above the clouds and find a clear view. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
