  1. You gotta love the " casual sale" work around. Kinda like selling a used lawn mower to a neighbor. Was not aware of this one at all. As for me I went with a Delaware corp. and all is well. Understand in some states the swamp water may make this avenue unpalatable, but worked for me, no sales tax paid. Best,
  2. Searching for Mooney nose wheel disc compression tool.

Understand you might have one available?

Hi Dave, I have one that I've borrowed from a friend. I can check to see if I can borrow it again.

      Thanks,

      David

      Hi David,

Glad all went well. Wondered if you had received my message.

      Thanks,

  3. Again, Time to change Lord landing gear shock discs on nose wheel. Wondering if anyone on forum would have compression tool to lend, lease or sell. Plan B, ie turnbuckle compression, no joy. Lasar rents tool, but is presently in use in New Mexico. Any help would be appreciated. Pm me or (Cell) 985-860-1138
  4. If you have the nose gear puck changing compression tool, have been searching for one. Pm me or Cell: 985-860-1138 Thanks ,
  5. Oshkosh Air Venture announcements, STC Cert. for GFC-500: Cessna 210 Grumman AA-5, this is a burner with cruise speed of 122 kts. Beech Debonair--(C33, E33, F33 ,G33) Mooney...................................................................................................................................You got it, nothing.
  6. Same problems with my Ovation. Mechanic replaced my turn and push conundrum sw. with a turn only switch, no more push and no more issues. Much more user friendly, not sure where he purchased it, but am sure you could find with a couple of inquiries. Best,
  7. For me, solved the 9.7 control panel issue by inverting the cradle. (Sporty's #7308A) Was able to keep the same base and arm as on the mini. When mounted correctly , had visual obstruction of key instruments, after inverting cradle 180 degrees, no visual issues. One minor problem with this method is that the original base clamps are now on top and the one on the right is now above the on off I pad switch. With a bit of turbulence, have had the sw. activated and Foreflight shut down. This was solved with end nippers and a box cutter to partially remove the plastic cradle clamp above the I-Pad switch. With this set-up your approach plates will now measure approx. 5 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches. Bifocals not needed.
  8. Sorry about your bad day. Western Skyways overhauled the IO550 for my Ovation. The old engine kept the candles burning for 2250 hours before things got a bit shakey. Happy with their work, no squawks. One thing to keep in mind with the basic overhaul cost are the additional sugar wafers I had not considered. 1. New wiring harness, a must. 2. You really need those new engine mounts. 3. That aged exhaust system, got to be replaced now. 4. Fine wire plugs, don't leave home without them. 5. Engine removal and replace, mas dinero. 6. Freight in and out, my error, Western Skyways pays both ways. And so it goes. Golf carts, Mooneys and high maintenance women, where would we be without them?? Best,
  9. A few years ago there was an FAA accident report of a pilot running a tank dry then switching tanks. Engine never restarted and pilot was killed. FAA findings were blocked injectors due to bottom tank debris sucked in from dry tank. Personally, I stopped doing it after reading this report.
  10. In the past have had significant delays with credit card fuel stops flying over different states. A phone call in advance would prob. suffice.
  11. When you do your spins with the rt. tank full left tank empty and aft cg. , hope you don't mind, but I would prefer to observe from the ground.
  12. Ex wives and eldest sons may be the wrong place to ask about paperwork. If I were you I would go the source, that being Alehandro. If anyone can locate the logs, it would be him. A few $$ offered in keeping his prison account current might go a long way toward asset recovery. No problem bonding, you are both Mooney pilots. If this fails, I would not be eager to tilt those windmills and would go to the sales barn ASAP. From my perspective, this seems similar to marrying a gold digger in Vegas on Friday that you met at an on line dating site on Thurs. You may love her, but she is still going to take your money. Best,
  13. Interesting, My A&P has never considered asking for front money and we have been through an engine off, crate and ship for overhaul, then reinstall, a 310 HP STP upgrade along with various annuals et. As far as a test flight before payment, he just jumps in the right seat and says "Lets go" with no mention of $$$. Pretty much the same goes for my plumber, electrician and BMW mechanic. Never been asked for payment $$ before turning on the water, tipping a light sw. or a test drive after front end work is completed. In my opinion, you lost any bargaining power when you fronted the 20%. Or, as Forest Gump's mama might say , "aircraft ownership is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get". As a side note, when bill is received, I always pay same day received. Best,
  14. Foreflight customer service, 1-866-701-6529. Or Apples new pad with 128gb storage, Just an alternative suggestion, solves a lot of problems.
  15. Lowered my Ovation panel significantly by cranking seat height to max then adding a seat cushion. Big difference.
  16. If you think those Mooney reps were "Snooty" this year, at least you could understand them. Word on the street is next year they will be speaking Mandarin.
  17. Once there, you are there. Sad, sad and not sure if he could have been saved at that point. That being said he was turning to the right and any Duster will tell you the aircraft always makes left turns better due to prop rotation. Not sure if a left turn would have saved him at point, but maybe.
  18. Not wishing to plagiarize, So, let me state this method of avoiding gear up incidents was copied some time back from another Mooney driver, (Apologize for not remembering his name), as he posted on Mooney Space in reply to a similar gear up incident. As I recall he always used some word he called GUMP before landing. Again as I recall, it went something like this: G-- Gear down U--Undercarriage down M-- That mf gear sure as hell better be down P--I am going to be so P. O. if that mf gear is not down As for myself, I now use GUMP for every landing procedure. Best
  19. Hang on, the Calvary is on the way. Garmin's GFC digital 500 autopilot, not yet STC'd for Mooney application, but their horses are galloping down hill. My KFC-150 has multiple issues, but instead of spending more $$ and making them worse, I am drinking coffee and calling Garmin's avionics support hotline on a monthly basis. Suggested retail $6995. ( Best guess is early 2019 availability ) Best
  20. N6018Q, Where are you located? I am at KHUM. N606WM Back to those tips: If on final approach your ground speed is higher than your airspeed, you might want to contact your CFI for a refresher tutorial.
  21. Are we talking Bit coins here or pesos??
  22. As per your request, Let the games begin: Tip # 1. Always pay someone else to wash and wax your plane. Tip#2. Put a SBR reminder on your pre take-off check list. (For those of you in Rio Linda, that would be speed brakes retracted) Tip# 3, Remove pitot cover and all tie down ropes before taxing. Tip#5, Activate pitot heat before entering icing, not during or after. Tip#6. In extreme turbulence, retract throttle, neutralize controls , then pray. Tip #7, To really understand how it is done, Watch Svetlana Kapanina's U-Tube videos. Many more tips, but coffee is waiting.
  23. Sorry, but you may be too late. Mooney has already moved into the latest realm of Clorox bottle technology copied from Cirrus. Not sure why, but Boeing and Lockheed Martins F-35 Lightning || fighter are shunning Clorox and seems to be sticking with tried and true aluminum with a little titanium thrown in. Maybe, they are just getting things right. Best,
  24. BOUNCE NO MORE : 1. No flaps. 2. Speed brakes activated. 3. Two throttle twists in the flare. 4. Continual back stick pressure . Don't panic, two out the above four will set you down softly. That tire squeak is so annoying....
  25. Personally, I would drink a little less coffee at Starbucks and use the extra savings to purchase the GTN-750. No bifocals needed. The GTX-335 is a given.
