  1. That's Awsome!! Congrats. The A&P takes longer than all of my other ratings combined! Glad I did it early when I had time!! I'd encourage others to do it. -Matt
  2. I have it on my desk at work. I'll try to post it. Decent article. It Compaired the entire M20 line. -Matt
  3. That stinks. I'd be arguing with hartzell on that one!! There might be too much wobble in the dome of the spinner. Teflon tape can suck the slop out of it. I think it's toasted to be honest. I'd save the spinner, and see if hartzell will sell you/give you the bulkhead. I don't know how it's bonded in. If it's just proseal, you could save it. If it's bonded on w/ Hysol, good luck. Cut out the bulkhead with a dermal? Hartzell probably won't give you the data to replace the bulkhead. Btw- nice air to air shot of your airplane in your Avatar. -Matt.
  4. My problem it takes me 2 weeks to rebuild a nose wheel and change said tire and tube. Lol. I had a scalloped tire, unknown tube that always wanted air, and some light damage on my wheel half retaining clip housing. Decided to replace the wheel with a used wheel I found on barnstormers. $125 killer deal. New was $650. Came with a serviceable tire and tube, slap it on No problem right?... Well I better check the bearings... Shot. Ordered new PMA'd races and bearings. Those things are expensive. $55 bearings $30 races. Decided to replace the hardware too. Refinish the wheel assy, cleaned light surface corrosion, used pre-kote treatment. $30. first paint job bubbled in the oven. Re-do. Found a better silver high temp. Looks great. $20 in paint and hardware. $165 Goodyear tire from ASC, $75 Michelin tube. Still need to replace one helicoil for my wheel cover. All in all, it looks about as nice as the refinished jet wheels for work I get from Aviall. The ability show fellow mooney guys my hard work... Priceless. Lol. $275 to get you down the road at F70 is a deal!! -Matt
  5. My 65E will do 155kts, 11 gal/HR. Fly for 4 hours, 600mi legs carry myself and 425lbs. (600lbs) I can go faster or slower if needed. 3.5 HR legs with a tail wind are amazing. Good luck on the hunt. -Matt
  6. Why is the engine time so much higher? -Matt
  7. How did your governor turn out? -Matt
  8. I thought Tim was able to finish the TKS, but It looks like that it never was finished? Parker, what did it true out at? And why is the NBC so hard to understand? I've talked to some shops asking about it, they say "it doesn't apply to this gear motor" then I dive into logs, and it says it it was changed at X time and due again at X. Not knowing is half the problem. If half of the owners knew about the issue, you probably wouldn't have any gear-ups. Poor Tim had it fail, and as a result, dinged a fine airplane. (It's Still fine, thanks to Don). I know my E doesn't have it with the old Dukes actuator. However, some K's have the NBC. Do late J's and Bravos have it too? Thoughts? -Matt
  9. Main gear adjustment will effect nose wheel pre-loads as well. I think my mains suck up tighter. There is a point where the main gear doors can be tight to the wing but rub on the gear when extended. My left main was rubbing. Adjusting the up travel position changes the down preload. What I ended up doing was changing the angle of the brackets for the main gear rods that attach to the tubes on the gear. Personally, after doing all this work, yours look acceptable if the pre loads are good... Its a solid days work getting it perfect. -Matt
  10. Do you have the standoff plate that is in back of the oil filter? Mine was missing, I manufactured a replacment. The fire sleeve Teflon hoses will fit in there. I wouldn't even bother borescoping the hose. Just replace it. Also send the oil cooler and vernotherm to Wayne at Pacific oil cooler. He'll tell you the vernotherm is bad too. He has replacements in house. Hoses, overhauled/cleaned cooler, new vernotherm. Throw some fresh oil in there and Fly! I think it's $189 for the cooler work, $425 for the vernotherm, and probably $125 for each hose. -Matt
  11. Haha, I Do!! On IFR flights. -Matt
  12. I wish I had more flap some times. Ground flaps would be great. lol. Or the barn doors in the old cessnas. Notice how those are no longer available with newer production. Darn!! No flap Landings work well, but the approach is flatter, and I'm not sure the lower approach angle justifies anything. I'd fly the entire approach with boards if I needed to. I wouldn't advertise touching anything on the runway or before touchdown. I like the theory of the dumping flaps idea, but it's a hard sell to most here. This was a really old thread brought back to life!! -Matt
  13. I see, that makes sense. -Matt
  14. I'd have to read the can again but I believe it says it's safe for electrical connections. Much like a contact cleaner or other fluids that are conductive. I would honestly think it was purely coincidental that it may have caused a servo issue. I have used corrosion X as a cleaner too. Wiping down a filthy wheel well, or cleaning a brake caliper(while disassembled). It leaves a film behind that can be wiped down or left on for even better protection. The seams on the wing will collect the fluid and weep slightly. That kinda makes me feel good as it's still working. -Matt
  15. Sorry to here, I know the Iran/Overhaul sounds good, but it will probably not be salavagable. Mine didn't make it. Several others didn't make it. Resulting in the -5000 new Gov. You might Talk with Cody Stallings or look for a new replacement for the gov. Send the old cable to McFarelane and they'll make a new one. -Matt
  16. Lordy! It's in the middle of the desert! Why did they shorten it? -Matt
  17. Man!!! I need to find the bending tool that does paint work too!!! Well Done!! -Matt
  18. Love the old Anti-Smack light. Nice short and sweet video. -Matt
  19. But Tom, being from Downunder (I believe) Almost any 1/8" pop rivet will work on those covers. -Matt
  20. It's an avex non structural rivet. Don't use cherry max rivets on fiberglass. It will destroy/crack the fiberglass.. -Matt
  21. Foreflight has a great comment section too. I've had a great experiance with SAC jet at SMF. Stayed there for a week earlier this year. They did exactly what I needed them to do. The staff was really helpful, and I'm told the owner is a great guy. Same owner as the other SAC jets I believe. Yes, the 20 bucks puts a bad taste in the mouth. But, I'd rather support aviation and keep flying than worry about 20 bucks. I've been burned by $50 ramp fees at large FBO's but at the end of the day I did exactly what I needed to do, and drove less. Thanks for the post, -Matt
  22. Flap supply hose, mp hose behind the panel, f/p hose behind panel, O/p hose behind panel. Followed by anything else in the cabin? -Matt
  23. Awesome!! Congrats. You have a heck of an good Crewchief in that first pix. He's commed up and everything.! Enjoy your airplane!! Fly it a few hrs and give everything a second look. cheers, -Matt
  24. Nice rain shower George! Thanks for the video. -Matt
  25. Cool! What direction? Shouldnt have any issues selling it. -Matt
