  1. Wow, that's better than I thought it would go David!! Nice plan! That will be better than some guy trying to figure out what you have already done. The cost shipping will be FAR better than some one else's learning curve!!! Solid!! -Matt
  2. Ha, That's just where the airplane is registered! Lol. Dave will chime in but, it will take longer than that Scott!! -Matt
  3. Mac's Covers!!! Well made. Same external as Bruce or better. I've had it out in the open, sun and rain for several weeks, No issues. He saves a bit of money as the entire thing is not lined with micro fiber, only the windscreen. I didn't mind, but might not put it on new paint. That said, it folds up in a smaller bag. Shipped for $290!!
  4. Check to make sure your nose retract tubes are not bent. Mine had a nice bow in the right tube. Might take that upper truss assembly and look for cracks. Blasting the piece will save you some time of messing with a cracked part. I would almost see if you could source one from a known vendor. Several recent gear up have had nose gear issues. Keep digging- your close!! -Matt
  5. That is a LOT of oil. Feel free to run a bead of proseal along the top of the case, but with that amount of oil I think it's much more than just the case halves seaping. I would inspect the case for cracks. Also, the front crank seal is a known leaking point. Above the part in the case that says #2 looks suspect, but I've never seen a Lycoming crack there. -Matt
  6. If Airwolf still makes their oil filter cutter. That's the best one I've used!! -Matt
  7. They will come straight in a clear packing tube from Lycoming. Gingerly, they can be bent by hand. Save the old one for reference. -Matt
  8. Awesome expression!! Welcome TB!! 5th generation wow??!! I'm 3rd gen and by grandpa flew pre WW2. Must have been tightly spaced for there to be 2 more GENs. Lol. You'll love your E when you get faces like that!! Fly Safe!! -Matt
  9. I rewired (installed a new switch) an entire trim switch once only to find out the AP disconnect switch was bad. This is actually more common than the switch going bad. I was about to pull the servo motor when I found some help at Western avionics at SNA. Give them a call. Talk with Scott or Stan. -Matt
  10. Thanks Bob!! Ill take a look!! -Matt
  11. Stainless really? I'll take them if the deal goes south for $75!! I don't think they will fit the early Cleveland wheels. -Matt
  12. All good! Thought it might be. Fit the discription. -Matt
  13. Yes that might be Doctor Bills hangar and mooney!?Looked really clean to me. He can be found on here. He has contributed for a long time to our site. Good luck, Save the airplane!... Lol -Matt
  14. Welcome Chase!!! Lots of big bad wolf talk about switches. Group buys, 3D-printed versions, all have been tried with fair to poor results. Search around in the tool section. Lots of articles. It's been a long while, but has anyone called the factory about these switches lately?? About 5-6 years ago they had all I needed for the landing lights and avionics master on a Bravo. Took 4 months but they made it happen. And that was when the factory was not producing airplanes! -Matt
  15. Save it from the salvage yard! Offer 24-30k and keep it alive!! You can then input money as required. You'll really like flying it over the Grumman. Grumman does fly nice however. It makes zero cents economically. But it we all did the economics we wouldn't fly at all. If it's a clean airframe, the rest is just parts... I saved ours from the scrap yard I feel. Now, I have a nice little E. I just need to finish the annual. Lol -Matt
  16. Speaking of flight training, who can recommend a nice flight school. I have a client In the LA area. Most of the schools have dried up. Rather not use American Flyers. -Matt
  17. I have a 496 on a ram mount on the center post. It's attached with their u collar threaded clamp. 2 cap nuts secure the mount to the post. Then about a 4 in ram arm with the stock 496 mount attaching to a ball mount. It interferes with some of the compass functions. (However I have the 201 panel and windscreen). I also modified the 796 yoke mount to work with an otter box case for my I phone 5. Not shown. Both offer more SA than a Collins PL21 system in a jet. -Matt
  18. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mike! Glad things worked out. This is attitude/Syndrome probably exists in more than 50% of pilots around the world. I hope that all of our training will pay off one of these days. If not hopefully it will at least keep us out of trouble in the first place. Keep up your guard, keep flying hard, don't let others change your ways. I have a personal list and minimum for flying my family around. You'd meet all of my requirements. Keep it up!! I bet you won't be quiet next time! Try to enjoy your trip, hopefully there will be better things to remember than back country pilots in Africa. -Matt
  19. Hank also flys a M20C. The sump is different. On the oil pan on the m20e will most likely have a 90° fitting screwed to the sump. I felt the Curtis drain was more stout than the safe air drain for the application it's in. However, Both are approved. -Matt
  20. Welcome!! I just replaced mine this year! It is currently approved for oil. Aircraft spruce says it is not, but the part is the same from spruce. CcB-37000 Best, -Matt
  21. Dan at lasar has the entire kit! Also, genuin aircraft hardware (PRB) has the seals as well. Best, -Matt
  22. No issues, Craig our admin fixed most/all of the spam issues recently. -Matt
  23. Well, you're on!! It'll be nice to live vicariously thru someone that is flying vs me that will most likely be working. I'd stay on the windward side. That has been guidance from several of my peers. Nevada can be really bumpy most of the year. Follow known roads and paths across the mountains. Then head south down the Valley. In the valley, Expect moderate to heavy fog usually clearing to something VFR by noon. Pay attention to the forecasts. Have fun! -Matt
  24. The TCDS authorizes the removal in the Notes section, and not the STC. The STC doesn't know or care what is previously installed. -Matt
  25. Do more trips with my Family. A bit more light IFR, Improve the airplane. Take others flying. -Matt
