Barnstormers, Controller, Jimmy Garrison. However, it will probably sell here. Good luck!! Looks really nice! -Matt -
I'll bite! I haven't seen it yet! -Matt

Thanks Sir!! Thats what I thought. What's the advantages of a chrome faced ring in a standard barrel? Are the standard Lycoming rings Chrome? I wasn't aware of the option. -Matt
-
Yeah, maybe they are all chrome. I've only heard of the conflict between chrome a few times. -Matt
-
Interesting they used chrome rings. I don't understand why they would use chrome rings. I can't keep it straight. Chrome rings in chrome Cylinders I think is bad? I bet you have chrome cylinders with standard rings. Chrome will flake, but seems strange it ended up in the propeller. I had a prop issue post overhaul. Complained about it, paid 500 to have the shop reseal it. Guess what, it didn't leak! Price to pay for such a fine performing machine!! Glad you were able to get home. Keep track of all of your oil analysis. Best, -Matt

filling the inboard fuel tanks only with the monroy LR tanks

Hi! What Airplane did you guys end up with?! -Matt -
Absolutely!!! The wing will stall at any deck angle. Then it all depends on what Yaw moment you have induced at the instant the wing departs. I don't know what a snap roll looks like in a Mooney, but I do know the fastest way to enter a spin in a Cessna 150 is a tight turn with opposite rudder. It will cross over the top faster than any other entry. On the M20, with power off, the rudder might not be enough to have it cross over the top. With full flaps, and full rudder if slow enough you might blank out the tail. I will report back, but I bet you could get it to spin the other direction. The inputs are the same as a snap roll! I'd be careful. -Matt

I have done things in the reverse order before. German aircraft, American part not approved in the states for that aircraft, but in about every German E300.. FAA said I needed a letter from the factory before they would issue a field approval. I was able to get a letter stating the device would not affect any system of the aircraft... Signed By Walter Extra himself! Pretty cool!! Call Mooney, and see if they'd sign a letter for you... -Matt

Your cowl flap cable is probably missing it's locking check ball. Disconnect it from the cowl flaps, then pull out the inner knob with the cable. Be careful and catch the ball if it pops out. If the ball falls out, then the cable is worn and needs replacment. If you don't see a ball, find a ball and reinstall. -Matt -
Thanks Craig, I just pinged some funds your way. Thanks for keeping MS alive and active. Have a great Christmas, -Matt

That's Awsome!! Congrats. The A&P takes longer than all of my other ratings combined! Glad I did it early when I had time!! I'd encourage others to do it. -Matt

I have it on my desk at work. I'll try to post it. Decent article. It Compaired the entire M20 line. -Matt

That stinks. I'd be arguing with hartzell on that one!! There might be too much wobble in the dome of the spinner. Teflon tape can suck the slop out of it. I think it's toasted to be honest. I'd save the spinner, and see if hartzell will sell you/give you the bulkhead. I don't know how it's bonded in. If it's just proseal, you could save it. If it's bonded on w/ Hysol, good luck. Cut out the bulkhead with a dermal? Hartzell probably won't give you the data to replace the bulkhead. Btw- nice air to air shot of your airplane in your Avatar. -Matt.

My problem it takes me 2 weeks to rebuild a nose wheel and change said tire and tube. Lol. I had a scalloped tire, unknown tube that always wanted air, and some light damage on my wheel half retaining clip housing. Decided to replace the wheel with a used wheel I found on barnstormers. $125 killer deal. New was $650. Came with a serviceable tire and tube, slap it on No problem right?... Well I better check the bearings... Shot. Ordered new PMA'd races and bearings. Those things are expensive. $55 bearings $30 races. Decided to replace the hardware too. Refinish the wheel assy, cleaned light surface corrosion, used pre-kote treatment. $30. first paint job bubbled in the oven. Re-do. Found a better silver high temp. Looks great. $20 in paint and hardware. $165 Goodyear tire from ASC, $75 Michelin tube. Still need to replace one helicoil for my wheel cover. All in all, it looks about as nice as the refinished jet wheels for work I get from Aviall. The ability show fellow mooney guys my hard work... Priceless. Lol. $275 to get you down the road at F70 is a deal!! -Matt

How much can your Mooney carry with full fuel?
MB65E replied to FloridaPilot's topic in General Mooney Talk
My 65E will do 155kts, 11 gal/HR. Fly for 4 hours, 600mi legs carry myself and 425lbs. (600lbs) I can go faster or slower if needed. 3.5 HR legs with a tail wind are amazing. Good luck on the hunt. -Matt -
Why is the engine time so much higher? -Matt

Anyone notice a famous 252/Encore for sale?

I thought Tim was able to finish the TKS, but It looks like that it never was finished? Parker, what did it true out at? And why is the NBC so hard to understand? I've talked to some shops asking about it, they say "it doesn't apply to this gear motor" then I dive into logs, and it says it it was changed at X time and due again at X. Not knowing is half the problem. If half of the owners knew about the issue, you probably wouldn't have any gear-ups. Poor Tim had it fail, and as a result, dinged a fine airplane. (It's Still fine, thanks to Don). I know my E doesn't have it with the old Dukes actuator. However, some K's have the NBC. Do late J's and Bravos have it too? Thoughts? -Matt -
Main gear adjustment will effect nose wheel pre-loads as well. I think my mains suck up tighter. There is a point where the main gear doors can be tight to the wing but rub on the gear when extended. My left main was rubbing. Adjusting the up travel position changes the down preload. What I ended up doing was changing the angle of the brackets for the main gear rods that attach to the tubes on the gear. Personally, after doing all this work, yours look acceptable if the pre loads are good... Its a solid days work getting it perfect. -Matt

Do you have the standoff plate that is in back of the oil filter? Mine was missing, I manufactured a replacment. The fire sleeve Teflon hoses will fit in there. I wouldn't even bother borescoping the hose. Just replace it. Also send the oil cooler and vernotherm to Wayne at Pacific oil cooler. He'll tell you the vernotherm is bad too. He has replacements in house. Hoses, overhauled/cleaned cooler, new vernotherm. Throw some fresh oil in there and Fly! I think it's $189 for the cooler work, $425 for the vernotherm, and probably $125 for each hose. -Matt

Haha, I Do!! On IFR flights. -Matt

I wish I had more flap some times. Ground flaps would be great. lol. Or the barn doors in the old cessnas. Notice how those are no longer available with newer production. Darn!! No flap Landings work well, but the approach is flatter, and I'm not sure the lower approach angle justifies anything. I'd fly the entire approach with boards if I needed to. I wouldn't advertise touching anything on the runway or before touchdown. I like the theory of the dumping flaps idea, but it's a hard sell to most here. This was a really old thread brought back to life!! -Matt
