  2. Be a little more careful, An OPP requires same material choice. I would suggest a “repaired part” with the carbon fiber being used. Since it is a minor repair by definition, no 337 required. -Matt
  3. What was the TBM material from Pratt? I thought some stacks were inconel. I’d be interested in a set for the pT6-25c -Matt
  4. Fly it! Aircraft Spruce will have whatever you’d like when you are ready. Search for weatherstripping. 1300L or a few drops of superglue to attach it. -Matt
  5. Thought I’d throw it out there, my exhaust riser has cracked again. I’ve welded it a few times but I think it’s exceeded its heat cycle limit. Wondering if anyone has a spare riser collecting dust. PN K630045M-513 Made by Kinsley Exhaust. Now acquired by AWI. It’s the No. 4 Riser/Stack. Thanks! -Matt

  7. The Whelen chroma lamps are the best drop-ins. They even have a TSO. I wouldn’t mess with anything else from Spruce. I have gone to the dark side with some Amazon lamps for some installed that don’t have a TSO requirement. Whelen still makes a better product. Aero-Lites are a solid fix for other drop-in replacements specifically the 508 and 305 lamps white trailing nav lamps. -Matt

  11. For the record, the B&C starters won’t fit the IO360s with the forward mounted fuel servo either. Too bad as it’s a great starter too! -Matt
  12. That’s my guess with the AD, as it was a poor install process from Lycoming. Aircraft Engine Specialties has been doing it right for a long time. I think many will find that it’s just more words on your LBE for the oil change. -Matt
  13. Coming from the west of Vegas for the NBAA convention. Version 1.0 Whelen LED lamp. Co-worker took the shot from the hotel of my landing light 35m away before I was vectored for the ILS to 1L at LAS. $90 event fee at Atlantic. Beats the 120 uber ride from Jean. 7h in the Mooney that trip! -Matt
  14. Back in on the 2017 rod AD, I was asked to do a few of the inspections. I researched it a bit. At the time to my knowledge there was a tooling kit to replace the bushings with the rods on the crank. I ended up not doing the inspections/replacements. I’m also sure the work can be done with out splitting the case. I think this AD is going after some of the those same failure modes. I found my Aircraft engine specialties invoice from 2012. It has the affected rod end bushings listed on the invoice. What’s also entertaining is that LW-10646 rod assembly also has another PN associated with it. LW13756 is the Rod casting number. Maybe it was an installation issue at Lycoming. The Service instructions speak of burnishing the bushing once installed. Maybe those from lycoming missed that process. But really, all we need to is watch for the chips of bronze in the oil at this time. -Matt
  15. Correct. I should have been more clear to state they have a special airworthiness certificated in the limited category. The limited aircraft are not experimental. The limited aircraft do not require the Additional certificate rating/LOA to fly them. Only the Experimental’s require the additional certificate. Clear as Mud, :-) -Matt
  16. To the OP, was that the way that chat responds and it was a cut and paste? I have a co-worker that types like this. He’ll take an email and completely re-write it. Sounds like a lot of work to me but I bet he uses GPT now that I’ve seen the format. -Matt
  17. I normally run BY plugs in the bottom and fine wires in the top. Cleaning plugs with the blaster wares them out more than flying does. Metal picks to get the crud out of them. But you’ll see and feel a failing plug on an engine monitor and in your seat. The ohm test will keep you running nicely too. Just don’t clean injectors just to clean them either. I’ve had deposits brake loose after cleaning. Not worth it. -Matt

  19. From reference when people have done the SB in the past I believe it’s .032 material. Mine has been stop drilled and hasn’t cracked in 10y. -Matt

  22. Yeah, split side towards the component, or Solid side against the plug. However you want to remember it. -Matt
  23. Crush gaskets are not rocket science. Solid side against the plug. Don’t smoke it on. Replace every time. Your Sump isn’t even saftied. -Matt
  24. That RR Maule is awesome! Flew one in PHX for a time. Just recently did a light overhaul on PT6, for some light corrosion and calendar time. It was north of $560k for the work at PWC. -Matt
