  1. Correct. I should have been more clear to state they have a special airworthiness certificated in the limited category. The limited aircraft are not experimental. The limited aircraft do not require the Additional certificate rating/LOA to fly them. Only the Experimental’s require the additional certificate. Clear as Mud, :-) -Matt
  2. To the OP, was that the way that chat responds and it was a cut and paste? I have a co-worker that types like this. He’ll take an email and completely re-write it. Sounds like a lot of work to me but I bet he uses GPT now that I’ve seen the format. -Matt
  3. Change the oil early a few times. I never let mine go 50hrs. Tempest 37BY plugs are great. I think they were developed for the same issue. If able run it at 25° per the data plate and lean often. Don’t change the Cylinder. -Matt
  4. I normally run BY plugs in the bottom and fine wires in the top. Cleaning plugs with the blaster wares them out more than flying does. Metal picks to get the crud out of them. But you’ll see and feel a failing plug on an engine monitor and in your seat. The ohm test will keep you running nicely too. Just don’t clean injectors just to clean them either. I’ve had deposits brake loose after cleaning. Not worth it. -Matt
  5. Hi! I’ll take both main trailing links from above the pivots. Basically I’m after the MLG axels but it’s all one assembly. nose gear doors bent? nose truss assembly? reason for cutting it up? -Matt
  6. From reference when people have done the SB in the past I believe it’s .032 material. Mine has been stop drilled and hasn’t cracked in 10y. -Matt
  7. There would be some value in reproducing them. -Matt
  8. Dumb!! Almost makes you want to fly a sell out Continental engine…. Almost! No thanks. -Matt
  9. Yeah, split side towards the component, or Solid side against the plug. However you want to remember it. -Matt
  10. Crush gaskets are not rocket science. Solid side against the plug. Don’t smoke it on. Replace every time. Your Sump isn’t even saftied. -Matt
  11. That RR Maule is awesome! Flew one in PHX for a time. Just recently did a light overhaul on PT6, for some light corrosion and calendar time. It was north of $560k for the work at PWC. -Matt

Depends on what adaptors/ pads it has. Mooney wing might be lower than an RV7. not sure, -Matt
  13. The Silver Eagle is what the 210 is called I believe. Really nice machine. There is a gentleman in Salinas California that still does the mods. As a tech, I’ve told myself never to own a Cessna retract… Solair did some 207 conversions. Nice machines, fixed gear, but Gearbox’s are the issue. I’ll stick with my M20E!! -Matt
  14. Stock P51’s, most are certified limited category. The experimental ones are in the Exhibition category I believe. It is a letter of authorization. A Checkride is required to fly the experimentals. -Matt
  15. PC9 is experimental, I wasn’t aware of the type requirement. PC7 is certified. other fun facts Experimental P51’s require a Type rating Certified P51’s do not.
  16. Jeff at high desert Avionics Leading edge SNA get inline, -Matt
  17. Thanks John, I was just looking to see if it made it into the downloadable section. -Matt
  18. Did this Ski Tube drawing ever post to the downloads section? -Matt
  19. It was a bold statement… Flat out yes, do I flight plan that no. 201 windshield, most airframe mods. Baffling/cooling drag lets no light in with a flashlight shined from behind. Oil cooler baffling. Flaps and ailerons are rigged at the lowest drag settings. 2 blade prop Lighter than any J. BY plugs, 25°+ timing Flown at the aft CG limit. I would like to put aileron gap seals on. And an annoying leaking right fuel tank. Yours should be pretty quick with the J cowl. I’ll see if I can get additional data points, -Matt
  20. Mine is. KTAS. -Matt
  21. Circle above TPA, above the Delta or whatever. Im not leaving the lateral confines of the airport with any newley installed components. -Matt
  22. Such a large piece of rotating material compared to Lycoming’s design. Thanks for posting the SB I wasn’t aware it was such a known issue. -Matt
  23. Friend/Customer’s airplane. It flys really nice. Reminds me of a hot rod tripacer. Darn thing is a truck! Light in pitch. The old Hartzell keeps trucking but we wanted to play with the Extra 300 prop on it. The Extra was upgraded to the wide cord MT scimitar. The wide cord MT performs about like the Hartzell Claw. Better braking performance than in the past, which means more thrust too. Funny it showed up in braking performance. Be fun to play with it. The folks that do the MT STC’s sorta laughed at me. -Matt
  24. Funny I want to put an Extra 300 MT on a M5 540 Maule !! Everyone freaks out at the counterweights and says why would you want to do that. Well the old 2 blade Hartzell needs OH and I have two spare MT’s. But no STC for it. -Matt
  25. The two blade option is called the Trailblazer propeller. It’s STC for some Cardinals and other Lycoming powerplants. Hartzell has the similar 3 bladed prop on the Cirrus line with both Lycoming and Continental versions. I’m not aware of the STC for the m20 with that prop on it yet. Hartzell has the better blade technology at this point. -Matt
