I believe that the EAA AirVenture Museum has the original aircraft, or did last year.  Stunningly beautiful airplane when you see it in person.

They took measurements from the original which is in the EAA Museum. As far as they can tell, that plane was never flown and suffered enough damage during its storage that it could never be made airworthy. The one being built is essentially not a reproduction but serial number 2 and the first flying example. Post the Kickstarter link to your favourite aviation forums so we can see this baby in the air..
