Ned Gravel Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I have already sent a PM to Cruiser who lives there, but I wonder if any of our group here can provide me with their suggestions on which airport to use to get into and out of Columbus, OH for the period 17-20 March. I will be staying and working in Easton during my stay and Port Columbus (KCMH) is only 4 miles away. Quote
Hank Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 It's easy to get from CMH to Easton. Seems there are two FBO's; I always use Lane, in the middle between runways. There is a GA ramp on the south, I think--never been there. I'll probably be visiting this weekend. Ramp fees apply. Used to be free to stop in for an hour or two. Lane knows Mooney turning restrictions, though. Quote
Ned Gravel Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks Hank. I wondered if the southeast side GA ramp was the prefered spot. Sent from my iPad Quote
FoxMike Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I travel to Columbus at least annually. I used to use Lane (CMH) as I established a business relationship with them many years ago when I went to school in Columbus. Things have changed at CMH quite a bit. I have been using OSU for the past 6 or 7 years. Prices are not much less than CMH but I think service (both air and ground) to the smaller airplanes is better. Quote
Seth Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I have flown into both OSJ and CMH. OSU gave some of the best service I've ever experienced. Lane was fine. It all depends on which is closer to your destinationa and of course calling in advance to find out fuel and overnight parking costs. -Seth Quote
mooneyman Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 I'm currently working on my multiengine rating at OSU. It's a great airport! Very busy for a class D. Great service! Easy access to I-270 and other major highways. Sad to see the tower is on the chopping block due to the "sequester". Rumor is that they may have to close the tower at least one of the weekend days. -Patrick Quote
Hank Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Lane at CMH is still friendly, still has cookies & drinks and still has $15 ramp fee. But it's convenient. Never been to OSU, but it's across town and traffic was getting bad when I left town 8 years ago. Quote
