This is an event put on by the Kerrville Visitor's and Convention Bureau to help promote the airport. That is just our cup of tea for a Mooney Ambassador. Come for the Day or stay the weekend! Friday May 11th: Beach Burger Fry and Dance Come and join us at Oceano Airport for a Burger Fry and dance to the San Luis Jazz Band. Stay the night camping at the airport, or enjoying one of our local hotels. Pacific Plaza Resort is offering a $65 King suite which sleeps 4. Saturday May 12th: Oceano Airport Celebration Day 2013. A Salute to Veterans. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  Free admission.  Fuel discount.  Lions Club pancake breakfast, static displays, emergency responder displays. 12:00 opening ceremonies and veterans recognition 12:30 Lunch served by the EAA Weanie Wagon and Oceano Elks Lodge. Live big band music: Central City Swing Band. 2:00: raffle. Free Children's activities. Family fun. We are collecting care package items for our soldiers who are serving in foreign countries.  Please bring: DVDs, black socks, baby wipes, beef jerky, toiletries or hard candies to donate.   Point Person: Mitch Latting.

May 11, 2013 Hayward, CA KHWD is holding their airport day open house on coincident with the presence of the EAA B-17 "Aluminum Overcast". The open house focus is introducing aviation to the next generation of aviators. Flyers will go out to all of the area elementary, middle, and high schools. It worked really well last year and I expect it will again. We are extending an invitation to the Mooney Ambassadors to participate. The airport administration is talking to the on-field fuel seller about a discounted rate. We are also looking into providing a meal-ticket (lunch) for those who participate. June 15-16, 2013 Indianapolis Air Show.  Details to follow on our third appearance at the Indy Airshow.  This show draws up to 150,000 attendees.

June 22-23, 2013,  Mooney Maintenance Seminar with Jerry Manthey, ArtCraft Paint, Santa Maria, CA:  Master Mechanic and Mooney Legend, Jerry Manthey $199.00 per person includes the seminar, Jerry's maintenance manual,and lunch.  Come learn from the best. ArtCraft Paint, our host, will offer a presentation on Mooney painting and will raffle a free detail.Not a member of MAPA?  You should be!  $243.50 is the non-MAPA price and includes a year membership.
We must have 30 students signed up and paid by May 22nd or the class will be cancelled. For registration: http://mooneypilots.com/ Should be a great weekend on the Central Coast of California.  We are so pleased that Jerry offered to do this for us.

July 13-14th Father's Day Fly-In, Columbia California, O22.  Columbia is a quaint gold-mining town in the foothills of the Sierras.  The Father's Day Fly-In just can't be beat. There is an aircraft only campground complete with hot showers and electricity near the grass runway.  Boy Scouts provide a great pancake breakfast in the campground.  Free shuttles across the runways. Static displays, emergency responder demonstrations.  Flour Bombing and Spot Landing contests.  {Mooney pilots have a long history of winning these!}  The Mooney Ambasadors are one of the only service groups with two or three display airplanes.  Last year, we had 100 degrees and the Moo-Pool was a big hit.  Come join the fun.  Point Person: Jolie Lucas
 
August 24-26th, 2012 KTVL South Lake Tahoe, Lake in the Sky Airshow
Join us at Lake Tahoe in 2013 for the 24th year celebration of America's High Altitude Air Show. The Mooney Ambassadors are the only type club that has specifically been invited by the event administration for the past several years. We had 22 airplanes in 2009, 14 in 2010, 24 in 2011 18 in 2012.  how many are coming in 2013? Friday night dinner is a salute to Veterans who have served or are serving our country. Saturday is the big day, and we expect upwards of 11,000 visitors. There is an opportunity for six Mooney Ambassadors to take place in the air show by doing high-speed passes. We typically get a nice hotel rate and car rental rate for this event. Point Persons: Michael Golden and Jolie Lucas

• Mooney Caravan Formation Flying Clinic Southwest Region- MCAS Yuma  March 15/16/17

In preparation for the Mooney Caravan XVI, all formation arrival to EAA Airventure, the 2nd Annual Caravan Southwest Formation Clinic will be held at MCAS Yuma on March 15,16,and 17th. Our FBO host is Millionair and the group hotel will be the Radisson. The event is open to all interested pilots; no previous formation experience is required. Even if you are not currently considering joining the Mooney Caravan, exposure to formation flying is a great education and good skill to develop. Safety pilots will guide you in acquiring formation skills. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity.Friday late afternoon will kick off ground school for pilots new to formation or that wish a refresher course. Those interested in advanced 4 ship formation work will break out for advanced training. Afterwords, group dinner at the Radisson. Flying starts on Saturday. Group briefing at Millionair at 08:00 with the first sorties starting at 0900. The number of participating pilots will determine the flight schedule for the remainder of the clinic. There will be opportunity to have several training sorties each day. Group lunch will be at the Jet Away Café at Millionair for $1. Overnight accommodations at the Radisson for $89/night. Sharing the ramp with the Caravan Clinic is the Royal Air Force. Expect “Tea Time” with our pilot friends from across the pond Saturday after flying.

• Mooney Pilot Proficiency Program Capt. G. Allan Hancock Field (KSMX), Santa Maria, California on the weekend of April 26-28, 2013.

 We will be staying at the Radisson Hotel Santa Maria (located at the airport). The telephone number is 805-928-8000 or 800-967-9033.  By booking the hotel one year in advance, we secured an excellent “high season” room rate of $94.00 a night – a significant savings over the retail “rack” rate. The hotel has a cutoff date for the reduced group rate.  So, if it looks like you may be able to attend this program, please call the hotel at this time and make your reservation.  Then, if your schedule changes at a later date, the hotel will allow you to cancel your reservation 48 hours before your arrival date without any penalty.  Your early registration also helps us to firm up our instructor corps for the event.  The parking ramp is adjacent to the hotel and all parking fees will be waived.
 The FBO (Central Coast Jet Center) has indicated that they will offer us a reduced price for the fuel.  Furthermore, there is a self-fuel facility on the field which advertises very competitive fuel prices.  We hope that you will decide to join us at this program.
If it appears that your schedule will allow you to be with us at Santa Maria, call Lela Hughes at MAPA (210-525-8008) and she will register you for the program.
For those who may be interested, we will be offering night recurrent training on Thursday or Friday, or both, starting at sundown.  Send me an email if you are interested in night flying so that I can make certain that I have enough flight instructors for your training.
At the completion of the program, eligible pilots will be endorsed for their flight review, instrument proficiency check, FAA WINGS program, and will receive an FAA recognized Certificate of Successful Completion of a Mooney specific recurrent training program.  This certificate will prove valuable to you when it becomes necessary to renew your airplane insurance policy.  Many insurance companies are now requiring confirmation that you have completed a recurrent training program prior to quoting you a premium rate or offering you a renewal policy; and many of them are providing pilots a 10% discount on the annual premium upon proof of the successful completion of our program. Come join us.  It will be a mini-vacation of mountain air with abundant sunshine.  A time to relax and enjoy yourself while you learn more about your Mooney airplane and hone your flying skills with a weekend of recurrent training among Mooney pilots and friends – and skilled Mooney instructors.

October 5-6, 2013 California Capital Airshow, Mather Field, Sacramento
The eighth annual California Capital Airshow will be roaring across the skies of our region again, October 5-6, 2013. We'll have spine-tingling performances including an international jet team, the Snowbirds, military demonstrations, world-class aerobatics, wingsuit flyers, barnstorming, wing walking, and endless entertainment and displays along the ramp. And the best part? Nearly all of the high-flying action hasn't been seen in the Sacramento region.  Point person: Jeff Ingram.

We had a great time at Columbia Airport's Father's Day Fly-In.  I believe we had ten Mooneys in for the fun.  Since the event was turned into a one-day only event, we offered to do a Mooney formation fly-by. It was a hit with the audience.

October 19, Wings Over Edenton, KEDE, North Carolina
Fly to northeastern North Carolina for a beautiful fall day at Historic Edenton's biennial fly-in open house. The South's Prettiest Small Town, and we're doing it up right. If you come for the weekend, there will be live music in town, boats for rent to explore our lovely bay and creeks, colonial-era museums and architecture, waterfront parks, good places to eat and shop. If you come to spend the day with us at the airport, you will enjoy flight demonstrations, Young Eagle rides, antique cars, antique airplanes, and antique pilots with good stories to share. There will be fuel discounts, ample free parking, food concessions, cars for rent, with prior notice. Edenton has several palatial BBs in the historic district as well as good chain hotels on the outskirts. Camping on the field is free.

Columbia Airport's Father's day Fly-In was cut short a day due to FAA budget cuts. Mitch suggested we do a fly-by to fill in some of the gaps. The crowd really enjoyed the formation flight. The announcer read the Mooney history of accomplishments that we have, as well as individual information about Ed, Dave and Mitch.
