dlt Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I am purchasing my first Mooney Bravo and am looking for an instructor to get 8 hours of dual instruction time. Any suggestions? I'm picking the plane up in Florida and bringing it to Arizona so I would like to get the instruction enroute if possible. Let me know your availability and price. I am a former Air Force instructorpilot with approximately 2200 hours of T-37 time. I hold an ATP but have been out of the military for 20 years and have not been flying much since then. I do rent a C-172 ocaisionally from a local airport. I do not have a large amount of recent time, or single engine time. Also, the plane is in escrow, but any suggestions on a pre-buy inspection would be appreciated. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Unfortunately I don't have Bravo experience or I'd love to help as I do these trips all the time (with or without a student). Ken Reed is a busy guy but I believe he has M20M experience and is a CFI. He lives in AZ. There's another guy here in Texas I can call if you can't find anyone. Quote
KLRDMD Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I do have a few hundred hours of M20M time and Doug E-Mailed me but I'm not available during the time period he needs. Unfortunately, that's not unusual. Busy is good, though . . . I guess . . . Quote
MooneyMitch Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 As far as pre-buy inspection on the Mooney, I can personally recommend DLK Aviation near Atlanta. Dan is an honest person. DLK is a Mooney Service Center. Instructors? You might contact Don Kaye www.donkaye.com . I do not know his availablity nor his fee schedule, but he is most qualified. Quote
fantom Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Don Kaye may be perfect for you. He owns a Bravo, has a zillion Mooney hours, and you'll get just the quality type training you were used to in the Air Force. I suugest you send him an airline ticket and fly back to AZ with him. A really good PPI is, IMO, mandatory on a Bravo, and Don could help you get that done correctly. Good luck! Quote
