andrew Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 I am looking for the front seat vertical adjustment bellcrank and arm assembly. The plane is a 1986 M20K, but I suspect the pieces will be identical with the Js of that era. The Mooney IPC lists them as part numbers: 140216-501, 1242F, 140216-021, and 140216-001. Does anyone have these parts around or have suggestions on where I might find some? Andrew Quote
andrew Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 LASAR has experience rebuilding. Giving that a try. Quote
Piloto Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 I had mine rebuilt with 4130 steel tubing instead of the original aluminum. They tend to break when the seat is adjusted at mid position and someone over 200 pounds is seating during turbulence. José Quote
andrew Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 That's good to know. Did you make it as an owner produced part? Was there any paperwork involved with installing it? Thanks, Andrew Quote
Piloto Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 That's good to know. Did you make it as an owner produced part? Was there any paperwork involved with installing it? Thanks, Andrew I cut and drilled the tubing myself and had a local FAA repair station do the welding (exhaust overhaul shop). The only paper work was $75 for the welding job. Don't bother with the original aluminum parts they will break again. I have seen four of them broken. José Quote
andrew Posted December 14, 2012 Author Report Posted December 14, 2012 Just to complete the thread: I received the mechanism back from LASAR. Great work and the seat moves smoothly now. The inner tube that supports the seat was damaged beyond repair and was replaced new. The bellcrank was reinforced and looks like it will offer more support than the original construction. Quote
