Jon ONeill Posted December 10 Report Posted December 10 Anyone have a contact that performs annuals on M20A’s? My annual is being held up due to the shop not having the tool / jig for this AD inspection. Thanks, Jon
Jon ONeill Posted December 10 Author Report Posted December 10 Called Don. He doesn’t have this tool. Any other suggestions? Appreciate the information. 1
N201MKTurbo Posted December 10 Report Posted December 10 The AD tells how to build the fixture. Just make one.

MikeOH Posted December 11 Report Posted December 11 I'm a bit confused as the tool referenced in the AD is designed to check the wooden tail for deterioration by applying a substantial side load and measuring for less than 1/16" permanent deformation after the load is applied. Thing is, I was under the impression that there had been an AD that ELIMINATED ALL wood TAILs on Mooneys. (requires replacement will metal tails) Is that not the case? 1
Jon ONeill Posted December 11 Author Report Posted December 11 Mike, You’re 100% right on this. No special tooling or jig required for the wing inspection. Strange that the AD in 1986 has language pertaining to a wooden empennage that was banned in 1967. Thanks for setting me straight! 2

Very few left but one located by me and still airworthy. David
