This is the latest from Duncan. Received yesterday.

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the delay, on your voicemails...   We have stock on all STC Kits....  But, we are not expecting Bendix King ODA approval on the amended drawings and installation instructions until middle of 2026.

Thanks

I have a valid STC with approval and my IA/AP did the minor alteration to the tray/rod…

How is an autopilot installation a minor alteration?

You’re not altering the autopilot, per se.

Adopting the pitch servo installation methodology used on the long body and applying it to a short body could be considered as a minor alteration by many with an A&P/IA who are approving the installation, since the installation results in the exact same functionality of the autopilot as approved under the STC.

Others may see it differently.

welp, got the dreaded, drawings don't mach call today, darn stringer for the step is in the way of the bracket for the pitch servo.

shop sent a message to Bendix King and Duncan, within 30 minutes they had what they needed to continue,

might actually get the plane back, one day.

Thank you Chris Gress @ duncan

Did mine as a Minor Alteration to the mount bracket also.

Also- you HAVE to modify the mount tray for the pitch to clear the flap rod (notch the flange) as called out in the instructions.

Mine had a letter authorizing Minor Alterations at the discretion of an IA. My hangar neighbor did it the same way also.

mines in the shop having this installed, anyone have stories to tell to help me bide my time?

Its very nice to fire up "Otto"  and  let him run the flight plan and level off at cruise altitude while I sit back and watch the world go by  :-)

A word of caution- rudder trim will be your biggest issue. If it is off the slightest at cruise speed you will constantly correct back to course

Mind you- its very little wig-wag but enough in still air to drive me crazy that's why it trimmed mine perfect for cruise.

Climb and decent will need a foot to bring the ball into the center. Rougher air you won't notice it.

Another issue will be getting used to how to trim the pitch to handle the "out of trim" warning. Its very touchy but can be ignored once you learn how to trim it.
