Frank B. Posted Monday at 02:24 AM Report Posted Monday at 02:24 AM Hello, I am looking to purchase a Best Tug Romeo 8 or an AC Air Tech brand remote control tug. I need something that will handle 6,000 lb. Level, less than 1% grade, smooth concrete. No door tracks to contend with. I can pay cash and can arrange for pick up just about anywhere in the lower 48. Thanks, Frank
Jackk Posted Tuesday at 02:53 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:53 PM You sure you want one of those? Of the people I know who paid big bucks for them not many use them on a daily basis, more of a party trick a hydrostatic transmission lawn tractor or electric golf cart would be miles better

So I wouldn't call them "party tricks." I'm sure a BIG factor is how level is the bridge between the ramp and the hangar floor. He has a newer hangar and a bifold door, so no tracks for a rolling door (like I have). So other than if there is ice in front of the hangar, which would affect a lawn tractor or electric golf cart too, I've never seen him have an issue.
Max Clark Posted Tuesday at 09:25 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:25 PM After seeing one of these RC units with a lazy susan I absolutely want one as well. The price tag has kept me away.
wombat Posted Tuesday at 11:51 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:51 PM I got the R5 (with lazy susan) for my Rocket. It is nice that I can also use it for other aircraft. Example:

slowflyin Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM Scott Perdue did a review after six years of ownership. He's tried lots of different tugs and I find his reviews credible. I think it would be easier and safer for my hangar. I have multiple AC in my hangar and it would be nice to be able to check clearances without being tied to the front of the aircraft.
Paul Thomas Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:42 PM I see someone use one regularly, he's one of the more active fliers, and it seems to do the job well for his Beech 18. I think it's very cool that you can walk around the airplane and make sure everything will be perfectly safe when you're in close quarters.
