Montreal Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 Does anyone have tips for re-installing the pushrod shroud tube springs on Lycoming IO-360A1A? New seals and springs, difficult to engage spring with tube and seals installed. Attached photo of shroud spring. Thanks in advance. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 It takes bad words and blood. if you coat the seals with DC4 you can get them to snap in pointed up and them rotate them where you like. Put a little DC4 on the spring and tube and the spring will rotate into place easier. If you put a 6” loop of lock wire through the hole, you can slide a screwdriver through the loop and have a good handle to pull on. 1 1 Quote

BillyT0020 Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 Had good luck setting them in place, then rotating the whole shroud with light taps on a flathead screwdriver on up against the protruding part on the outside of the shroud. 1 Quote

MB65E Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 .040 safety wire doubled up. Then pull them with safety wire Pliers. The aluminum pushrod tube is super soft. You’ll puncture or damage the ends if you pry on them. -Matt 1 Quote
