FBCK Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 I haven't seen this so I thought I would pass it on in the interest of all owners: Message from Mooney Service Parts: “We know that in the past, order inquiries for Plastic and Fiberglass parts have been answered with *none in stock, no lead-time”. That’s because our Plastics shop was shut down at the time new aircraft production ceased, and our Plastics technicians were let go. In our effort to keep the Mooney flying public supported, we need to see if there is a market capable of bringing back and sustaining a part time employee to make plastic parts. Therefore, we would like all of our customers that may have given up on receiving plastic parts to contact us at serviceparts@mooney.com and place orders for the parts they wish to purchase. We will accept these orders for the next two weeks, then on Jun 1st , decide whether to hire a new technician based on our order backlog. If we decide to proceed, we will provide you with lead times as soon as possible. If we see there is not enough justification to proceed, we will let you know that, as well as cancelling your order. There will be no cancellation fees or penalties, so you really have nothing to lose. As always, our opportunities to serve you better are directly correlated to your parts sales activity, so let’s see if we can all benefit from this opportunity”. We also have brought back a employee to assemble parts such as ailerons, gear doors, etc. Thank You! Service Parts Dept. Mooney Aviation Company Inc. SkyPilot Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Wow! I hope it works for them. We all need them to stay in business or we'll be flying something else eventually. I just ordered a new piece for the head-liner.
jpjp Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Hopefully it will work...but if it is anything like the parts orders that they are taking now, I doubt it. I ordered a pair of parts for my articulating seats. They kept telling me 6-8 weeks out every time I would call. It had been more than 8 months so I eventually cancelled the order and had to source them elsewhere. If they cannot build it in a timely fashion they should say something up front or not take the order at all.
