Time to change air filter on my TSIO 360-SB

Donaldson ED04011 or Challenger CP-1175 ?

I did buy the Donaldson, since it was already installed.

Are there any differences between the two?

Yes big difference. The Donaldson filter is pleated paper. The Challenger is of the same design of K & N filters for autos & motorcycles. Install with K & N grease.

Both are FAA-PMA approved. Challenger is supposedly better - Can be washed & serviced up to 25 times, Increase horse power 2-4%, Fire Retardant, Saves money & improves efficiency, FAA-PMA approved, Ecologically sound, Better take-off and climb-out performance, Faster airspeed and/or better fuel consumption, Accordion fold design provides up to 5 times filtering surface of non-pleated designs.

i’ve used both as a long time owner and IMO the Donaldson is superior, since it does a better job filtering. Non of the marketing advantages of increasing horsepower have any truth for a turbo engine. Why? regardless which one creates the most air resistance, once you have your turbo controller adjusted to provide redline MAP at full throttle the air filter performance doesn’t even play into it.
What does is the filtering performance and the K&N foam filter grows thinner with age and cleaning. As a result you’ll see your silicone numbers increasing with time long before 25 cleanings. I went back to Donaldson for this reason.
