M20 Ogler Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 I finished my Commercial pilot rating in my m20c. Going to start CFI soon but I’d like to be able to solo from the right seat to get used to the CFI point of view. Is there a way to add brakes to the right side rudder pedals? Quote

kortopates Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Of course you can but it’s going to much more expensive than you realize even if you can find most of the parts as salvage. Plus you’ll have to get large portion of the parts salvage just to pull it off since i doubt you could source them from Mooney anymore.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
M20F Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Not your question but you can do check ride with no right brakes if DPE allows, check accordingly. The only challenge in flying from right seat imho are the maneuvers which don’t need brakes. Landing from the right seat is a non event (about has hard as sitting left seat in right hand traffic). If I was going to instruct initial in a Mooney would add the brakes, otherwise would skip it. Quote
kortopates Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 I fly exclusively from the right seat, with right side brakes, when my pilot wife is in the left seat. But i don’t fly solo from the right seat. The ignition switch. as an example, is too far away in an emergency.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
