Hi All,

If you or someone you know has a brittan BI-805 servo control valve available for sale, please private message me.  I’ve been watching eBay like a hawk and have been in regular contact with our friend Kevin W, to no avail.  Would greatly appreciate some help finding this part!

Thank you,

Good luck.  Kevin helped me locate one for Accu-Flite I am having installed.  He said that my old Brittain DG unit (currently in tail) SHOULD work.  I would sell that after removing/swapping for the BI-805.  Scott

That's mounted in the tail?  Was there a control head in the cockpit with a heading dial?  Just curious.  We took something like that out of mine years back and replaced it with a TC100EVT I think.

Yup

It's been 15 years for me, but I think we removed everything from the tail, along with the control head in the cockpit, and replaced it with a DG with a Heading Bug, and a TC100EVT turn coordinator.  My valve is now on the back of the TC.  I have a pneumatic switch on the panel as well as the one on the yoke; and a panel switch that turns the heading bug function on and off.  The inverter that drives the DG heading bug function is under the pilots sidewall panel then back to the TC100EVT.

I am saving panel hole by NOT having a t&b.  I have an aspen. The dg with heading bug (accu-flite) will go in that hole.

Would be nice if the Aspen had the STC to cover the interface to Brittain.  I think I might work but the paper trail isn't there.  What function does the bottom of the Aspen provide?  HSI?

Yes it would. I am putting the heading bug where your tc100 is (bottom left of six pack). Aspen is just a horizon and nice dg that doesn’t wander. It is a vfr panel. I have an electric horizon in hole now. Don’t need it. Value the brittain accu-flite. Wondering if I can drive an accu-trak with my Aera?

Hello @Echo,

Thank you for your response.

Is the photo you attached a Brittain "shunt" valve?  Kevin informed me that these shunt valves are capable of performing the same vacuum control function as the BI-805, but I've never seen one.  If that is the case, any particular reason why you choose not to use it in your pending B-11 and B-12 installation?

Apologies to stick my nose in.  I am trying to learn about these old Brittain systems and the installation/STC process.  I have a good functioning LSA-2 (basic vacuum wing leveler) and I also possess the components for both the B-11 (Accu-Trak) and B-12 (Accu-Flight) systems... everything BUT a vacuum control valve which I thought could only be a BI-805.  I think these systems are really cool, and if I can get one or both working in my bird I am gonna!

Thanks,

Z

Hello.  Kevin told me it functions "like" the BI-805.  I am using the BI-805 because it is newer than the shunt.  I offered to sell "it" the shunt.  It will go on Ebay at some point.  Good luck in your search.

I may have what you need. Do you have a picture of the part you art seeking?

Like this.  It says BI-805 on the data.

The image Echo attached is bang-on, sans a firewall mounting bracket which I would like, but is not a deal breaker. If you have one I am happy to talk money. Thanks, Z
