Place to rent Pre-J Mooney?

I'm located in northern CA and am trying to find a place to rent a pre-J Mooney, anyone know of any places? I'd like to get into a partnership in one (located close to Sacramento) but would like to get some time in one first (such as cross country time to see if I'm comfortable with the size).

If I'm not able to find a C or E model, are F, J or K models all the same width? So for testing purposes, I can assume (minus the stretched cabin) they're the same?

Red Baron Aviation has one in Santa Barbara, '62C just like mine - $150 per hour. I almost went out there before I bought last year but decided against it. Link below, but hopefully someone in your area offers up a ride before it comes to that. I can't remember what the rates were for an instructor.

Come to Calaveras tomorrow. There will be several Mooney's there.  You should be able to sit in one, or possibly go for a ride.

Calaveras isn't very close to Charlotte, NC, unfortunately.  Wings over Carolina, near Raleigh (http://wingsofcarolina.org/aircraft) has a Mooney J for rent, and I'm pretty sure there's a club closer to Charlotte that does as well.  Don't know of any older.  If you can/want to make it down to Hartsville (HVS) in the next few days, you can check out my F.

Edit: Oops, just noticed that the OP was asking about California--I'd just seen a couple of posts back.  Yes, all Mooneys (except the Mustang) are the same width, so if you're trying to get an idea of shoulder room, entry/egress, etc., any Mooney will do the job for you.

Thanks for the info - I didn't mean to hijack the original thread. I am in the process of buying a Mooney and wanted to get some time in before to help with insurance costs.
