JoeM Posted November 3, 2023 Report Posted November 3, 2023 I had a short circuit, blew a fuse on the shunt and now, after repair, the amp load meter is pegged right both when master is on and off. Is the amp meter shot? Quote
PT20J Posted November 3, 2023 Report Posted November 3, 2023 Maybe. If you shorted a shunt line to ground that would put 12V across the ammeter which is actually sensitive to millivolts. But, if the meter were dead, it should read zero. Sometimes when you overdrive a meter the needle just sticks so I'd try tapping on it to see if it frees up. Are you sure that all the wiring is correct after you fixed the problem? Skip Quote

MikeOH Posted November 3, 2023 Report Posted November 3, 2023 The fuses are there to protect the ammeter from overcurrent; the meter might be ok. It could be mechanically stuck as PT20J said, or it’s possible the shunt itself is damaged such than excessive current is now flowing through the ammeter. Pull one of the fuses and see if the meter will return to zero. If so, look at the shunt and wiring. Quote
